redrose85
I posted in the fall about a rash that I got after wearing a paintball mask. I have to wear splash-proof goggles at work when using certain cleaners and chemicals and the rash has come back, and it is particularly dry and burny right around my nose. My whole face feels like sandpaper. What on earth could possibly be causing this? I've never had any allergies before, and I know I'm not allergic to latex. Link to comment
waveseer
Maybe a product you use on your face is interacting with the plastic. Think cleanser, moisturizer, base, etc... Link to comment
ladylol1234
It could be a combination of things. Anything from an allergic reaction to something more serious. Do you have a family doctor? Link to comment
catfeeder
Could be a reaction to the cleaners and chemicals, as fumes can seep underneath the goggles and the area is already sensitized. Link to comment
lady00
Do theses masks belong to you personally or are they used by multiple people? If it's multiple people the cleaners they use to sanitize them may be what is irritating you. Link to comment
redrose85
Multiple people. we have two that we share between 10 or 20 workers in my dept. I changed my cleanser because I thought that might be it, but no. Something definitely got me on Thursday, because when I came home I had painful splotches on my neck and chest. They went away overnight, but they really burned Link to comment
ladylol1234
^Before you put on a mask at work, are you thoroughly wiping them off with a antimicrobial cleanser? Or does your employer have someone specifically cleaning these masks after every use? Link to comment
redrose85
We are supposed to clean them, but I doubt they're getting cleaned. I am going to ask them what the masks are made of, and I am going to make sure to clean them myself from now on, before and after use. Ugh. My skin is so gross! If I try to put makeup on the red, scaly spots, it just looks fake and yucky. Link to comment
