ImThatGirl
So... I gave myself some lenience when I quit smoking. Said I'd allow myself to gradually gain 10 pounds while adjusting to not smoking. I'm at 8 pounds. Gag. Today is the first day. . . . . in over 5 years. . . . . that NONE of my jeans fit right. (well I do have one pair but they were hung to dry last night and still damp.) This is more of a vent than anything. How hard is it to eat right? (It's not.) How hard is it to make time to go to the gym? - - Still making excuses on this one - like this week paid bills one day, volunteered at school another, etc. etc. Didn't want to mess up my kids routine by taking them to the gym in the evening. Blah! Bla Bla! Bla Bla! (Excuses?) This is disgusting. I can say I've never truly had to watch what I eat. When smoking, I still ate plenty. . . . but the weight didn't pack on. Sigh. At the same time, I don't hate how I look. If I bought a bigger size in jeans, I'd probably be content. But . . . . weighing this amount isn't acceptable. It's just not. I've grown out of my jeans and that is not okay. Today is the day. Signed, F..A.. Link to comment

Crying!!!! lol (not really) I never wanted to be the girl that had to wear the elastic waist pants! Just thongs... Yeah that's against the dress code at the office too for some reason. Did I mention I love you guys? Thank your for the humor! I knew I could count on ya'll! I need to buy some of those shirt dresses that are kinda in right now. That would work.. No waist... Hmmm.... Yes - Portage... I'd be happy with 10 pounds. But heck... I think once I get going, I may as well work til I lose 20. I think my weight 10 pounds ago looks most healthy but shoooot..... this is bad! I should have dieted and lost some weight before quitting smoking. Link to comment
McLovin oo7
One thing at a time ITG, Think about it, you don’t smoke anymore, that is a great achievement and loosing 10 pounds should not be a problem for someone like you – a person with strong will power. BTW, I hope that this current problem is only with jeans, not with the looks as you look great. Link to comment
ImThatGirl
That's what I keep thinking McLovin... One thing at a time. But really, there's not much else to work on at the moment besides the weight. I'm not flippin. But acknowledging moreso that it's time. It is mostly the jean factor. Wearin my comfy / gym style pants at home, I feel fine. Thank you for the compliments McLovin. I appreciate! Link to comment

ImThatGirl
= hungry in 45 minutes. I rarely drink water. Maybe if I drink enough each day it will curb my hunger? I know I need to work out too but I must admit.... I've been a pig for awhile now. Link to comment

I think that at this age, working out is the only way I'm gonna completely lose this weight and tone up. I second the screw working out but ppfff.... Guess I have to. Link to comment

Haha - I do understand genetics play a role but up until this point, I'd been okay. So, I can't let it be just that it's "genetics" and that nothing can be done to change it. I might post progress. lol I have a faded pic on my profile from last week. But ya can't see the problem areas... Link to comment
kuiks8
if possible i would treat yourself to one pair of pants that fit you really well where you are at right now...i know it's hard when your clothes aren't fitting right but you are doing something really really hard but really great for yourself long term so it would be nice to have one pair of pants that look good and that you don't beat yourself up about everytime you put them on... ImThatGirl
^^ That is a very good suggestion Kuiks.... I have a few pairs of dress pants and two pairs of jeans that I can still pull off. Thank you for that - it makes much sense.. but... I can't spend money on myself. Not at Christmas. Link to comment

I can't spend money on myself. Not at Christmas. i know the timing is crappy but just try really hard to be graceful with yourself...keep positive, just keep saying this is a phase...say things like i am glad my body bounces back so quickly. I love that i am getting healthy that kind of thing and focus on all the good you will be doing for your body b/c you quit smoking...just have a knowing that you will get rid of this weight in due time (xmas is never a good time to set weight loss goals!) Okay! Thanks! You are the sweetest Kuiks! I just wanted to make sure that the way I've written this didn't come out that I'm walking around looking messy. I'm certainly not down in the dumps. It does mean no extra eating for holidays but that's okay. Link to comment
kuiks8
no it didn't sound that way at all...it sounds like you are making an incredibly hard yet beneficial step for your health and you were frustrated with the repurcussions... you are beautiful...8 lbs won't change that but i know how it feels to be uncomfortable with where your body is at... it's the holidays...don't be too strict, make sure you enjoy yourself and just set a cut off date (for me it's Jan 2nd) and that's when the hard work starts again. Every year i beat myself up around the holidays and this year i just don't want to do it...there are too many parties/occasions and chocolates lol...so i know my body, i know my abilities to bounce back and i have exceptional muscle memory so once Jan 2nd comes around I will be back to working hard and eating healthy... I am really proud of you for quitting smoking it's a really hard thing to do but the benefits are amazing!!! congrats!!! Link to comment
