vmrhine18
I have been a little overweight my whole life. I know the basics to losing weight is diet and exercise and I plan to go hard core on that in the next few months. I was just wondering if any of you have tips that have really worked for you? Any certain exercises that you noticed made a huge difference? The reason why im cracking down is because my best friend is getting married in a few months and I'm a bridesmaid! I want to look good! Any advice is welcome! Link to comment
waveseer
Weightlifting, yoga, martial arts, swimming or other water sports, hiking, walking, drinking lots of water, eating lots of protein, and not eating simple carbohydrates. Link to comment
JustBeachy
I'm a personal trainer and the only way I see my clients succeed is by hardwork and dedication. Push yourself beyond your means every single day. Stay consistent on your workouts and diet. Take the weekends off and continue to do anything that you can to stay motivated. Hope that helps. redhearts
Don't drink soda at all, sugar makes you more hungry, eat breakfast, don't skip meals, just work out and make sure your eating healthy. Healthy as in watch calories and watch what you eat. Link to comment

Taking the weekends off is a fairly new concept to me. I still want to sneak in a little 90 minute workout on saturday morning and a minor two hour surfing session on sunday afternoon, but nothing major. lol Link to comment
JustBeachy
If you must go to the gym on the weekends, do some light lifting or cardio. Nothing more than 30 min worth. You have to let your body rest. If surfing is something you love to do it's diff than a workout...it's more of a hobby and a workout in one, so have at it! Link to comment

I agree with the hardwork and dedication! I have always sort of been addicted to food, and I use it for comfort all the time. It's going to take ALOT of dedication and determination on my part! It's going to take ALOT of dedication and determination on my part! Lots of protein and lots of small meals/snacks throughout the day. It'll get your metabolism going faster, thereforee burning the fat off. A good starter program can be found in the book Body For Life by Bill Phillips. I've had great success by putting a few clients on that program. Link to comment
emma34
don't allow food rewards. when i diet, i always say 'ive been doing good...i'm going to allow myself with a pint of ice cream'. clearly ridiculous! make other rewards. like 'if i eat good all week, i'll go shopping this saturday' kinda thing Link to comment

Doing my regular workout is a hobby too, but I see your point, thanks. Link to comment
JustBeachy
I workout Mon-Fri, as hard as possible. I push myself beyond my limits and sometimes beyond that. I leave every day wanting to puke up my guts and wanting to go die somewhere. I'm not kidding either. I've gained about 50 lbs of muscle in the past 2 years from working out this hard. i went from 155 lbs and about 16% bodyfat to 207 lbs and 9% bodyfat (i'm only 5'9). I'm very serious about my workouts. I'm down to 190 lbs now and about 12%. I'm happy where I'm at though. The point I'm trying to make is that once you start seeing the results, you then realize that all the hard work is paying off. It doesn't happen overnight, but it will happen. Just keep a positive frame of mind. Link to comment
ghost69
just eat well and make sure you do cardio. no specific exercise as far as lifting weights will make you lose weight. 75% of it is your diet. Link to comment
Lady Bugg2
I just started the 28 day body shapeover. It's sort of like Body For Life..same basic structure ...I'm doing this as a jump start to New Years. I finished my 10th day today...and am trying to stick to eating every 2-3 hours. My motivation is how good I feel after every workout. My reward is simple....a nice hot shower afterward. And just the feeling of knowing I am doing something positive! Link to comment

You're tired and your body is burning fat at a very fast rate, so jump on the treadmill or something! mix up your weight lifting on a weekly basis to keep your muscles guessing at what's coming next. Mix up your cardio to: do the treadmill one day, the precor (eliptical) the next, etc. There are diff exercises you can do on each machine. Take a jog outside if you can one day. There's so much you can do. You must dedicate the same about to your workouts as you would your diet. Link to comment
