Rude people

Everywhere I go the world seems full of rude people.

I always have a smile on my face and a hello for everyone. I never push in the queue, I give up my seat for old people or pregnant ladies, I let older ladies get on the bus first.

I really take pride in being polite.

Today out and about people kept shoving past me, pushign me out the way to get to clothes racks and in a shop I went to put my card into the chip and pin and shes goes

'Dont touch that, I've got to put it in' And rolled her eyes and got all huffy.

I go 'Oh sorry' in a nice way and smile and she goes off on one

'For god sakes, I get sick of telling people that, its ridiculous' and has a go at me.

Nowhere does it say I couldnt put my card in myself. Infact I was sure that was the point of chip and pin where you put your card in and type in the code. It was on a stand pointing out from the till as well where I could reach it easily.

I was quite upset I was just like 'oh im really sorry' A lot.

I wish people wouldnt be so rude.

Just gotta keep telling myself that its just the way of the world. There are still nice polite people.

So do you guys experience stuff like this often?

Are people where you life generally rude or nice?

Do you make an effort to be nice?

For me 99% nice and polite. But you do get the odd inconsiderate person or you just catch a person on the wrong day. Australians generally have what we call a "fair go" mentality. They tend to respect other people's space and their place in the queue.

All the time, i work in retail and the amount of people that dont even say thank you after i've served them on the tills is appalling. I think a simple thank you is basic manners.

Also i get people asking me where certain items are in store, i help them out and im courtious and they just walk off without saying thank you or a backward glance.

I dont usually get upset, but sometimes it really gets to me.

Im a nice store manager btw

Melrich. I think that is a good mentality to have. christmas shoppers are crazy. They shove you out the way incase you possibly pick up something they want.

I think theres no need to be rude.

I can be frowny and a bit huffy sometimes but not to my customers at my job because at the end of the day they are there, and paying, and its not my place to take out my frustrations on them.

Im a waitress. I've been called names before and responded with a smile. I wont rise to their level and get angry at them lol.

It was a clerk at the store being that rude to me.

I got mad at some lady the other day because she was in one of those glass boxes in the gas station and i asked her why my card doesnt work. she didnt even look at me and she mumbled something. i said what! and she said it again without looking at me. So i SAID WHATTTTTT! and then she got mad at me and started yelling at me. so i felt like saying why dont you make eye contact with me and speak up and do your job but i just walked away and left the gas station.

It's funny, my father in law is American and he goes back to the states at least twice a year. Anyway he was telling me that Kosco (sp?) is coming here and telling me about the concept of the store. I said that sounds great and he replied "I hope they don't bring the American shopping mentality with it"....I have heard the stories and it sounds a lot more restrained here.

She wanted to swipe your card???? Here there is NO need for them to swipe your bank card in their till that increases the chance of you being frauded of money. YOU should be the one that puts it in the BANKS machine . As for her rudeness I would have done what avman said.

It was one of those you put it in, put your pin number in and the transaction for the product is done with.

She got so flustered.

Five minutes before someone goes 'Can i get this gift wrapped' and shes goes 'nope sorry, too busy'

Even though on every price there was a 'To be giftwrapped' option.

oh goodness people are rude here!

I'm from Texas and used to people being polite and friendly. Since moving to the DC area though I've encountered a whole nother breed, RUDE RUDE RUDE. People who work in retail are rude, people in stores are rude, people on transportation are rude!

I try to still be nice and friendly, but I do catch myself being snotty more now than I have been in the past.

Its genuinley awful that clerks can be so rude.

Especially when theres plenty of people out of work who'd love to have any job and would do it with a smile on there face.

Yeah I went into a jewlerry store and they looked at me like i was some sort of thief and one comes upt o me and goes 'did you actually want anything or are you just looking?'

I was like O_O and left. I did actualyl have the money to buy something.
