NC - getting back together after how much time?

How much time did it take for your significant other to realize what a mistake they were making and that they wanted to get back together?

Usually a couple of hours....then they turn around and do the same thing again.

It took mine about 4 months the first time around, we then got back together for two months then he dumped me again. After another 2 months he contacted me via email and things went from there and now we're kind of getting back together again but I am not sure it's what I want now.

First time...took a few months. Second time was a year later, and I was unwilling to take him back. Third time is right now and this time, it took a few years. But this time, things are so different from the past. It's like night and day. It's amazing.

Yes I am back with someone that I've been with before. We have gotten back together before, but it didn't work because he was still hurt. Then it didn't work again because I was still hurt. Now it works.

wow that's impressive, so you broke up with him and then he broke up with you? I think that's th problem I have now, I am not sure I can go back with him because I am still hurt and I hold a lot of resentment towards him.

Well, actually, he broke up with me, then we got back together, then he broke up with me again, then we dated but never officially got back together because I couldn't trust him so I declined getting back with him. Then finally we are now back together and have fixed our trust issues and have let go of the past hurt.

 

If you don't let go of the hurt and resentment, it won't work. My bf and I both learned this lesson twice!

was it the dumper who contacted you first? and how did they approach getting back together? had they made up their mind and asked to reconcile when they first contacted you? or was there a phase where you had to show them you've changed - in which case they decided to try again?

My Ex wants back now, we've been broken up for year, although he's tried contacting me a few times with no response. As far as I can tell he still has attention span of a clueless monkey. Hopefully he'll learn.
