What if they're not over their ex?

What if you're interested in someone that aren't over their ex yet? Do you drop off the face of the earth and maybe come back and hopefully try later, or what? :S

If their not over their ex, you back off, you can be friends, but nothing more. Better to leave them alone there are plenty of single people over their ex's.

Agree with Redhearts here - you don't need to be trying to compete with her memories of her ex.

They won't be fully into you so there's really no point in trying IMO.

It's not a great way to start off a relationship... you shouldn't have to be competing for the person's feelings... they should be all about you or they should be alone until they work through it. Losing yourself in someone new just makes it more likely that you'll bring the same issues into the next relationship. I say give her space to work her stuff out.

OK got it thanks all. By the way, how would I ever know if she did get over her ex? And also, should I stick around as a friend or just stop seeing her at all and try later? Assuming I'm going for romance and not friendship.
