Jealousy = Insecurity

Actually, jealousy can be explained by evolutionary psychology. See, in evolution, the individual's objective is to pass on his/her genes. It's no wonder, then, that men are the jealous ones. In prehistoric times, this was a defense mechanism. In order to be fully sure that this child was his child, and he wasn't wasting time by cultivating another individual's genes, the males were extremely possessive.

Although this doesn't pertain to modern civilization, the instinct is still there. It can very well be controlled, though, very much the same as sex drive can be controlled.

Telling someone would be the easiest way to get the to come to this realization.

Neither are healthy traits... How do you make someone aware of that??

Some people just dont want to hear it no matter how much you tell them. Once they realize themselves and accept they have these traits and take control to change, there's not a lot the outside world can do to help.
