annie24
thank you for bringing this to our attention! ladies - if you are going on a date with a man you don't know - things to keep in mind: - meet in a public place, and don't go home with him until you get to know him better! - don't drink something he gives you. if you have to go to the bathroom, take your drink with you, or finish your drink before you go. GHB (the date rape drug) is colorless, odorless, tasteless. -safety first! if he gives you the willies, go away! i always run my dates' names through my state's online criminal database. my friend thinks that's an invasion of privacy and that if i am so not sure about these guys, i shouldn't be meeting them. but i think better safe than sorry. Konfetkette
This is really, really sad...but I just have to say it: women who go to a guy's house on the first date after meeting him online are stupid. I would never even go anywhere near his car, wouldn't go out when it's dark out, or when the place does not have a lot of people nearby.

jengh
how terrible. thank god they caught him. when I was a freshman in college, I met a guy online. I didn't have a car and I let him pick me up (STUPID, I know...)... well, he started driving to this REALLY remote end of North campus... i'm talking NO buildings, lights, etc. He stopped the car. I'm like, "wth are you doing?" He says to me, "You're going to F me" Me, "Are you KIDDING me?" we argued back and forth for a bit He locked the doors to his car. "well, you're at least going to suck me off' I protested, he got mad and tried to restrain me... I wound up punching him in the face and was able to unlock the door and run away. I certainly learned my lesson. Well-lit public places, people!

jengh
yeah, it was too close of a call for me. I can't believe how dumb i was. i'd like to get pepper spray but it's illegal in MI and I dont know where I could get it.
annie24
hmmm.... i don't know michigan laws. go to a hunting or outdoor or gun shop and see what your options are. if not pepper spray, can you carry a taser? lol.
annie24
ok, and not to be rude, but i'm laughing a bit at him. he's negotiating with you. aren't rapists supposed to just 'take it', not bargain like, 'ok, well you're at least going to suck me off.' lol. i'm sort of laughing at him. but i'm glad he didn't rape you or get you to do anything. did you ever report him? jengh
actually, i think tasers are legal. I should look into it.l While I'm not going on random dates now (bf and whatnot), I do go out at night a lot and get freaked out.

I know, it REALLY threw me off, the bargaining. Thinking back, I always found that kind of humorous. I called Campus Security on my way home and then filed a report. I'm not really sure what came of it..
annie24
heck, i'd get the pepper spray anyways next time you are out of state. it's not like the police are going to search your purse. besides, you are a pretty blonde, just bat your eyelashes at the officer and tell him you had no idea that pepper spray wasn't allowed. jengh
going to order some next week=) I can't believe it would be illegal in some states. I think yeah, it should be regulated (filling out some paperwork maybe, but banned outright? eek.
Tallisman
...but I just have to say it: women who go to a guy's house on the first date after meeting him online are stupid.... It didn't happen because she met him online. It could still have happen if she met him at a bar, school, meetup/activities group, church, you name it. Guys who invite women to their home(or any place else for that matter) and then assault them are even more stupid; like she would not know/remember who you are or where she went to meet you?
