Mending 08
Hi all.I am currently on a health kick, but I realized something. That my mind is just as out of shape as the rest of me. I find myself reading gossip, and other trash that just does nothing to benefit me.It seems like I can't get away from it though. Unless I NEVER watch TV or listen to the radio, or never come online. It seems like this country is obsessed with mindless crap...like whether or not Lindsay Lohan is a lesbian, or if Britney will get her kids back, or Amy Winehouse is going to rehab. It is EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!! Does anyone else ever get sick of this stuff?? Maybe I should just move to a deserted Island for a year. Link to comment
ghost69
i don't read any of that crap. it's their life, not mine. i stick to mine. Link to comment
redhearts
If your on a health kick you should see my weird thread, haha. Yeh its a little weird how people are so obsessed with celebs. Such as having a show SOLEY to stalk them. Its just what has this world turned into. Link to comment

Clementine orange
I know EXACTLY what you mean!!! I was talking to someone the other day who didn't know who Paris Hilton was (she thought it was a hotel in France)...seriously. I was soooo envious! I want to not know these things. Link to comment
now_better
I find myself reading gossip, and other trash that just does nothing to benefit link removed seems like I can't get away from it though. Unless I NEVER watch TV or listen to the radio, or never come online. Here are things I do: a) i don't have a TV so no TV watching for me. b) i listen to fairly mainstream radios and they talk about crap like this all the time. but personally, i only listen to the radio because i want to listen to music. as soon as a promo/commercial/dj starts talking, i switch the channel. c) i'm not sure what online sites you visit, but some sites allow you to customize the site. for instance, i stopped visiting link removed because there was just too much crap on it. link removed is much better, though brief on articles. link removed has junk on it too, but you can choose to cut out most of that entertainment crap out your own personal site. KiCkiT
yes! I hate it! Those tabloid magazines are a multibillion dollar industry I'm sure. I feel like all girls my age don't ever get inspiration from real women role models like Eleanor Roosevelt. Instead they just look up to Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan. I hate it!!!! Reading and worrying about celebs is the biggest waste of time. Link to comment
ghost69
the only time i read them is when i'm in line at the grocery store. i just look at the cover and laugh. i really wonder, who buys this crap? Link to comment
redrose85
Just ignore the tabloid magazines. They're a huge waste of money. The best thing to do is go for a walk to your library and take out some books that will require you to use some brain power. Personally, I found that when I lived alone and didn't have cable or a computer, I was outside much more, and I was at the gym a LOT. It was great and I got into really good shape. Now I have free cable, a big screen tv and a computer...it's hard to get motivated sometimes. So my advice to you is get outside, read books, eat healthy foods (not psuedo-healthy diet foods), drink lots of water, unplug the tv, and really focus on yourself. Link to comment
karvala
I know EXACTLY what you mean!!! I was talking to someone the other day who didn't know who Paris Hilton was (she thought it was a hotel in France)...seriously. I was soooo envious! I want to not know these things. You're not fooling me; I know you enjoyed watching that tape. Seriously, though, I find it not too difficult to avoid the junk celeb culture. I don't read newspapers, watch mostly DVDs or if it's television, it's carefully planned, listen only to certain safe gossip-free radio stations, and have a ready finger for the mute button should anything slip through. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to spending in a night in the Paris Hilton at some point. Link to comment
