You know the type of girl I'm referring to, she is cute with glasses and has her hair in a ponytail or bun and not into bars or night clubs and doesn't wear short skirts or 4 inch heels. She can have intelligent conversation and likes to read and go to cafe's and book stores.

Are these type of girls in book stores because I don't think they do the online dating thing because I rarely see any on there. I ran into this type of giel yesterday and wanted to approach her but the bus was crowded and I was sitting behind her, not in a area to make eye contact and smile,

They are hard to find and when i do see one I just always freeze and be like-"WOW! Like yesterday. Wish i had the chance to say something.

You do have the chance, you just have to take it. With your disposition, though, it would probably be better if you could get to know them a bit first. BTW, don't make the mistake, in case this is at all in your mind, of thinking that these type of people are more available or more receptive to advances. It's a common myth. But if this is your type, then go for it! Libraries and evening classes are also classic places to find cute nerdy girls, so I'm told.

How about joining a non-profit organization, such as ACORN or some other? Some orgs are chiefly concerned with nerdy stuff if you think about it, such as consumer rights, etc. Plus, you get to do some honest-to-goodness community service, which looks great on a resume.

Only problem: Time and convenience. Some orgs are just difficult to enter because of their schedules.

My G/F is exactly like that and I met her playing volleyball as she was on my team. Those girls are the best! Those types like volunteer work, arts, community groups, church.

The question is are you worthy of such a girl?

Go to the library and sit down at a table to read/study, that's how I met my date right now..hahah.

Although I imagine it'd be hard to converse loudly..that's why it's easy to get their number and ask if you finish up the conversation later.

That was my strategy in college and everytime I tried to do it someone I know would see me and sit down and that would be the end.

geeky girls like conventions, ren fairs, libraries, taking classes at local colleges, hanging out in indie stores that no one knows about, book stores, a lot of them like anime.....

Can't guarantee they'll all be cute geek girls though =P

I know, just got a reply to my geeky girl ad on craiglist and she was not a cute geek.

Oh man, CD, you pretty much described me when I'm wearing my glasses. Creepy...I'm your type!! Oh no!!

A lot of geeky girls do online dating, but yes, get out there and spread your wings and take the chance whether you think you have it or not.

I saw one cute geeky girl this year on a dating site which led me to believe they don;t bother with it and just meet guys in public.

On the contrary, I think. Often, geeky people (guys and girls alike) have social problems (not all, but a lot as far as I know) meeting people, and they tend to turn to online dating over real life dating (like me for example).

I wouldn't say that it's because they have social problems per se. I'd consider myself quite geeky. I don't dress all that geeky but I definitely act it.

However, a lot of geeks don't like parties, bars, and the dating scene. So, the internet is a tamer way to meet people without all that beer, less desirable people offering you drinks, and loud rap music.

It's hard to get dates in bookstores.

that's why it's so puzzling why these type of girls don't go on dating sites. They go some where but not dating sites, atleast not the ones here in philly

I know that I'm geeky in the things I like and don't like (like what you listed), but I don't think I act it often. I am very social around people I know, and I can be the life of the party, but hwen it comes to being around a lot of strangers or social scenes with strangers, I tense up and can't get up the courage to be social.
