Anyone ever go to a bar by yourself?

Not sure which topic to put this under, but I was just wondering if anyone here has went a bar by themselves without knowing anyone and not expecting to meet anyone you knew there?

 

What were your experiences, what do you say when people ask "who are you with". I don't want to be like, "Yeah, I'm new here I don't really no anyone at all and I am so glad that you are talking with me". haha.. no but really..

It's going to be alot harder for a guy to meet women when he's alone.

 

As a woman, I've gone out alone before when I moved to a new city. I made friends with a group of people that night and didn't ever have to go out alone again. ...but I'm a woman. I doubt that would work for a guy.

i never go by myself but i know quite a few guys who do. they just go to have a few beers, watch a games, and relax though... they dont go to meet people.

 

i guess if i was in a new town w/ no friends i would eventually build up the courage to go to a bar alone. maybe go during the week and get to know the bartenders and then they could help introduce me to people.

Yeah I agree, I don't think women would be as receptive. I definatley don't want her to think I'm a whacko. I've been out by myself before and I just felt like people were judging me in a negative way. It's sad b/c if you saw me you would think I had too many friends.

 

I guess I'll look into other areas to meet people like the gym, club teams, etc. I see all these women dressing up in their stelletos dying for a guy like me to come talk with them.. but when they find out I'm alone.. haha. no good.

I've done it a few times, I actually enjoyed it. Just went out to grab a beer and watch a game...you'd be amazed how many people are doing the same.

 

But yeah their is some awkwardness I guess if you meet someone(especially of the same sex)...I doubt I'd ask some dude for his number ha.

Relying on bartenders, is a bit odd to me, no offense. Suppose you could just get chatty with a bartender and ask how their day is going etc.

I have quite a bit in the past. I usually end up talking to someone, and not just men. I think it's kind of enjoyable to go out and shoot the 'poop' with someone you know you'll probably never see again. I would usually go to the same bar though. I was atleast familiar with the bartender.

Often a lot of my friends show up... but they are usually late nighters rolling in around midnight-1 where as I can show up at like 9-10....

 

I think the key is to just as soon as you walk in find a group of people and start a conversation with them...

 

The moment your seen by yourself or as a wall flower... your social value goes down and then it's a lot harder through the rest of the night to really break into groups of people to talk to.
