Yes, it can hurt -- be slow, use lots of lube. No, it's very very rare to get pregnant from it, unless the semen gets into the vagina.

I've tried relaxing and using loads of lube but no matter what I try to do to make it better it hurts like hell once he's just going inside.

LOL, that sounds like one of those urban myths! I should look that up at snopes. A lot of people eat green chilies every day, but I have never heard of an epidemic of blocked pee-holes, lol.
