Rose21
I've always been irregular with my periods. Even before any type of b-control, it was normal for me not to get my period for 4 months or more at a time, and when I would get it id get hot flashes, throw up, diareah, and just be a mess. I wouldnt even go to school the 1st day. I was on the b-control Depovera for 10 months, but I got off it because it is just horrible with side affects and made me pract bipolar. I switched to the b-control pill "Ortho Triciclen lo" 2 days before my last shot. I've now been on the pill for nearly 2 weeks. Been a LITTLE better with my moods, but I havent had any really bad side affects like nausea. I take it every night at 10 pm, no more then a 5 minute difference between when I take it each night. I always take my pill the right way and whenever me and my boyfriend have sex, he ALWAYS pulls out each time. So isn't that pretty full proof? I'm on b-control AND I use the pull out method? I haven't had sex in a week, and I wont see my boyfriend for 4 weeks, so it will be awhile. My question is, should I worry about being pregnant if my period comes late? I'm irregular anyways, and I know that the pill is supposed to regulate your period and you should have it after 21 days or so, but I also JUST came off Depovera. I bleed the first 3 months of that, didnt get it for 4 months etc. The doctor told me it would take up to 9 months to get Depovera completely out of my system. So I will prob still be irregular for awhile. Do I have any reason to worry? Link to comment
Supa_gurl
I don't think you have any reason to worry. After I got off the Depr shot it took me 9 months of wondering if I was pregnant. That is when I went to the Dr. to have him give me meds to induce my period. But now that you are on the pill you should regulate and have nothing to worry about. Link to comment
Rose21
Okay thats good. but I shouldn't be worried If I dont get my period like the 1st month or so? Depo does stay in your system for awhile. And unfortunantly I wasnt one of those girls who didnt get their period for the wholw 10 months I was on it. I bled for 3 months STRAIGHT. And I wouldnt get it for like 4 more etc etc. I know I was really stupid with my ex, it was my 1st time so I didnt know much. I wasnt on any b-control, and he didnt use a condom, he just pulled out. I thank God I NEVER got pregnant! But now I'm extra safe. Some people use condoms AND b-control. To me, when your in a serious relationship whats the point in using a condom? I make my boyfriend pull out but thats just so I can be extra sure. I tried using condoms twice before. It ended up making sex feel horrible, i wasnt pleasured, and I'm really tight so i was in awful pain. I tried both latex, and non and I had a horrible rash down there. Its hard enough to fit it in normaly, why would it be better with a plastic bag? I asked my doctor about being on the pill AND doing the pull out method and she says I'm perfectly safe. I just want to know what everyone else thinks. Link to comment

Rose21
Well first its her choice. 2nd is she on b-control? if she's not you can't possibly expect her to not want to use a condom. If she is, ask if she wouldn't mind if you just pull out. Condoms are only 85% effective. You have a better chance of getting pregnant if your on b-control and the guy is wearing a condom, it breaks, and cum goes inside her, vs. being on b-control and the guy totaly pulling out before it even has a chance. Rose21
So its a good b-control then? Alot of my friends are on Yaz, but that also has the extra chemical to clear up your skin, and I hear that has alot of bad side affects. Almost as much as depo. And Seasonelle, I heard is bad because any pill that tries to control your period into only getting it 4 times a year isn't good for you and bound to cause spotting. And the ones without combination arnt that effective. How much do you pay for your ortho a month? Im curious as to how much it is and if insurance will cover it at this time. I live at home with my mom and brother for the time being. But after community college I'll probly be living with my boyfriend, so then I'm on my own. Link to comment
RedSoxFan84
I'm on it also and love it (I've been on it for a year and a half). I get it at the planned parenthood for $22/month, it would cost about the same with my insurance (~$18 since there is no generic)... It depends on what insurance you have. When I was on my mom's it was only $5/month. Link to comment
