amure
HOUSEBOATS! to start off, im a fairly picky person in terms of careers. i dont intend to go for high-stake jobs, infact im starting to think i dont want to work at all (dont we all lol). well in all honestly im trying to think of what im going to do with myself... i dont want to live in a cramped unit, mainly because i play drums with a passion. so it came to me... house boating. its cheap, water-front, portable, and still city friendly. is there anything i should know? any downsides/laws/un-expected taxs ect... i live in australia by the way hope to god this doesnt fail lol cose i really like the idea Link to comment
kaoticbaby
you're still going to need a job in order to sustain a life on a houseboat. boats are NOT cheap, especially one big enough to live on. and yeah, just because you live on a boat and not on a house does not mean you aren't subject to taxes. you're sixteen, are you moving out any time soon? i say be cool stay in school. kaoticbaby
they're expensive, and you're still going to have to pay your country's taxes even though you are in a boat. you still have to abide by country laws and you can't just pass into other country's water without paying more money and using a passport. there's still utility bills, still need to pay for electricity, and you definitely can't just live off of the fish you caught. most people who opt for this type of lifestyle do it for work-related reasons. i would really think about this one.
