A Discussion About Communicating With Potential Friends

What kinds of opinions (from the serious to non-serious) do you need to hear from the new people you've just met in order to determine if:

 

A. They have something in common with you.

 

B. They're not ignorant or see the world in a tunnel-vision.

 

The reason why I asked this is because I live in a community where people are very quick to label if someone is "intelligent" or "doesn't have a thought in his head."

If they ask you questions (about yourself) or for your opinion on something or if, when you meet them again, they remember something about you.
