Crush85
It all depends on what your intentions are. Love is giving, lust is selfish. Link to comment

Gratsy
But think about how much sex drives you into ignoring all of the flaws of your love-object? I mean, romantic love doesn't last if sex isn't eventually a part of the equation. Someone once told me that the only reason he'd get married was to establish permanent sex. And he said its secretly that way for most men. And think about how essential it is to be sexually attracted to your love interest? Perhaps sex is at the heart of romantic love but friendship is at the heart of commital love. Link to comment

In all marriages, including Christian marriages (at least on the man's part) there is an expectation of sex. I hear all the time about sexless marriages and how unhappy the man is because the wife refuses to give herself to him. So then, would it be safe to say that lust - or the expectation of sex - was a motivating factor in the decision to get married? I would say yes. However, I also believe in different types of love. More legitimate types of love with no strings attatched. Link to comment
Caterina
link removed I thought that it was interesting that love could not sustain itself from lust. As far as the emotional/intellectual compatibility vs. the physical compatibility. Often people's lust stems first and foremost from an intellectual/emotional attraction... Also, I've been in lust over someone where the physical compatibility was only surmised through a psychological assessment...it was never experienced...so physical compatibility did not actually take place.
