metrogirl
Sorry for all the job questions lol, but they called me today and i'm debating whether or not to do an interview. I've heard some pretty bad things about working there. My soon to be daughter in law works there and she loves it. She's been there a few years and hasn't really said anything negative except the occasional rant about the boss. Link to comment
Ashleigh_n_TN
i dont know what could be so bad?? go for it. Link to comment
scared and alone
well i've read some employees saying the management treats employess like crap, not good training, and tells them to lie to get customers to open credit. just, not good things. I personally don't feel comfortable doing that. Link to comment
Ashleigh_n_TN
maybe its just one store that does that... anyways, you have to give it a try.. and if you dont like it... you have the right to quit!!! lol Link to comment
avman
Like many places, it's going to depend more on the specific location and the managers that run it. See who you'll be working for when you interview and make sure it's something compatible for you. Link to comment
riley123
I never worked for Old Navy, but I did work for another clothing retailer and while I wouldn’t call it a dream job, it did have its benefits. I agree with Avman, a large part of the equation of whether or not it would be an enjoyable job has to do with the stores management. Link to comment
Lily04
My sister worked for Old Navy. While I hate the clothes (and so does she now - the line really went downhill horribly), she didn't have a very positive experience there either. She worked in a Canadian suburban location. But the manager was very demanding - they had to make a minimum number of sales per day, and she felt a ton of pressure. Her manager was this annoying Chinese guy who would yell in their headphones "Where is smile?? Smile at customer!! We have to make x number of dollars before 4:00 pm!! I want big smile, and help!!" and she said she was actually terribly embarrassed when he said this within earshot of a customer!!! made for an awkward situation (it was in her headphones so yeah...) She was soon after hired for Nike and went to work for them instead, as a sales associate. Overall, mall jobs are crappy in general because they don't pay that well, but you can give it a shot & see. If your manager is like that, it may not be for you, but I'm sure it varies by location to some extent. Link to comment
Lionel Hutz
I worked there and I loved it! Good discounts and I worked the womens section. "Does this make my butt look big?" (Lionel rubs his gotee) "No way. Wait, let me see one more time. No way" HAHA I miss working there some days. I was in a hip part of town with alot of cool peeps. I also enjoyed catching people stealing, it was kind of a rush working with L.P. too. Link to comment
HeartGoesOn
Sorry, I've never worked there or known of anyone who did, But, Lily's and Lionel's posts have my laughing so hard, and I can't see straight! Link to comment
Lionel Hutz
I did not recognize this part but I SWEAR that was our general manager too! A militant retail asian guy. Not sure if he was Chinese, but I would not be surprised if they transfered him up there. What a coincidence! Link to comment

Lionel Hutz
HAHA I wish. We could never chase them out of the store. I was not the actual L.P., although I wish I was. I remember people pushing whole carts of clothing out of the Manhattan Beach store that I worked at. It was like secret service using the headset to catch them, "Shes at the door, cut her off, flank from the right shes going towards the baby section." Like cat and mouse it was. Link to comment
