I have been working on building my self esteem and confidence but I am still having a problem with talking to new people. It isn't nerves (thanks to my medication lol) that is stopping me, I just don't know what to say so I just end up standing there. I have noticed that people do try to talk to me but I am a rather boring person so the normal conversation starters don't work with me, an example would be "Do you have any children?" my response "No", so the conversation just stops there. How do I fix this problem?

TIA

I am also very bad with conversations.

Try "open ended" (Dont remember if this is the right term) conversations. I am not sure if it would help a lot but it can keep you going for some time.

So for example instead of asking did you have your dinner, ask what did you have for your dinner. By doing so you get an answer (I had this, that and this for my dinner) that is open ended and you may continue the conversation on "this, that and this".

I am not sure it would work, but learnt it 10 years ago somewhere.
