I've known this girl for about a year, and we're going on our first date this weekend. what's a good thing to do for the first date if you've known someone? should I ask her to be my gf at some point or just "let it happen"? I'm on the border of freaking out as I never expected this outcome (haha). Anyone?

I'd go with the flow and see what happens. You've known her for a year, so figuring out what she likes (cooking together, dinner out, a movie, museum, theatre, concert,... ) shouldn't be that difficult. On the other hand, I know it's a bit odd to start dating someone who you've known for so long. Just on a side note, me and my bf knew each other (as housemates, so we REALLY knew each other) for two years before we started dating and realized there was more there. We've been together for 2.5 years and live together for one year.
