Diabetes and Viagra

Recommended Posts

My boyfriend is 37 and has Type 2 Diabetes and can't maintain an erection for longer than 2 mintutes. He is willing to go on Viagra. Will this really work? Is this safe for him long term? What happens when it stops working? Any answers would be much appreciated. Thank you.

This happened with my husband too and he tried Viagra.

It worked REALLY well, almost too well. But there was a side affect that really bothered him. He had heartburn for 2 days after. We tried to combat it before hand and after and just couldn't.

Eventually he went to his Dr. and they switched some of his diabetes meds and we no longer had a problem.

Good luck, I hope you are able to find a solution that works for both of you!

I don't know how Viagra and the diabetic medicines would mix.. but Viagra does have side effects and one of them is (rare one, he could damage his eye sight or maybe even go blind) I don't know how correct this is but my family doctor told me this information ( p.s i never took the drug, i was just curious as though what is it and how it works)

My bf has Type 2 also, but we have no problems in that area. However, it must be fairly common because his doctor gives him Viagra and Cialis for free because he is sure his love life must need a little help. It doesn't. We use it once in awhile because he says his orgasms are out of this world when he uses Cialis. Go figure.

Erectile dysfunction is pretty common in Type 2 Diabetics and Viagra is routinely prescribed to combat it. There shouldn't be any problems in regard to interactions with anti-diabetic drug.

You shouldn't take Viagra if you've had a recent CVA, MI or ACS, low blood pressure, retinal disorders or if you're taking any nitrates or antiviral meds.

As always, consult your own doctor too.
