venting birth control!!!!!

Recommended Posts

You seem to be having some serious problems with hormonal birth control. I have problems with it too, but it's more on the emotional side of things. The hormones make me completely devoid of a sex drive.

I had a copper IUD fitted a couple of weeks ago and I think this was the right decision for me. I can't handle hormones and my boyfriend can't use condoms (I don't particularly like them either). I can't say it was the most pleasant experience during insertion, but I really think it will be worth it. Perhaps you could talk to your doctor about that option? I know you are married, so STDs won't be a problem for you. Don't let the horror stories scare you.

Poor you!

One question: Have you stayed on them for at least 3 months? They do tend to stabilize after that time window: reduced bleeding, reduced nausea, etc.

not yet. because I end up hemmorhaging! But I'll stick it out with this one because my OBGYN says I need birth control to stabablize my hoemones if I ever wanna have kids.

same for me as far as hormones. But I am really scared about IUD's. Because I have been warned multiple times about the risk of them rupturing your uterus. I wish I could use one though

Like I said, there are a lot of horror stories out there. If you read about it in depth, you will see that perforation of the uterus is very rare and usually occurs during insertion and can be treated right away. The important thing is to have it inserted by a doctor who knows what they are doing and have done it many times. The doctor who did mine said she had done thousands of them and never once caused perforation.

Of course, it's your body and if you don't want to take that risk (personally, I think the risk of putting hormones into your body is worse), then so be it. I can only suggest that I think it would be a good choice for you in your situation.
