What to do?

Wow that is a tough one. In one hand he has the right to know so he can have a chance to be a father. On the second hand maybe the mother doesn't want him to know and thats why she never told him. But the son has the right to know also. I think you should talk to the mother first and give her a chance to tell him.

It's a long story. The son knows who his dad is and that my dad is his dad, im presuming that his mother told him, I dont know her or indeed my half brother. Im just worried about telling my father in case it turns out this 'son' is a product of an affair that my father had behind my mothers back. Both my parents are in their seventies.

wouldn't the age of the son give it away? (if it was an affair or not?) i don't know - i might tell him that you heard that he has anothe son and see if he wants to contact him?

how old is the son now? why hasn't he tried to contact his father himself? why did the mother never ask for child support?

i don't know - i mean, you don't know for sure, how old is the child now? i would tell dad that there are some people who are saying that xxxxxx is his son. and then leave it up to your dad to decide if he wants to contact his 'son.'

it could also be that this woman maybe had plenty of men and doesn't know who the father is? i don't know. just guessing.
