Flirting: What does it mean!?

I know this may sound a little pitiful coming from a 20 year old college student--female, if you must know. Anyhow, a classmate of mine flirts with me quite often, and he admits it. Especially since I called him on it today! I don't know if he's just being nice, or whether he's the flirt-for-fun kind of person, or if he's being genuine.

I suppose it would help to say that I'm not used to this sort of attention from men. I must say that he tells me quite often that he doesn't know why I wouldn't get such attention. He also gives compliments. For example, today I wore this coat that I'm quite proud of--it makes me feel, dare I say, very attractive. It's a long, leather coat--it's length goes past my knees. But I digress. I said jokingly that "I make this coat look good!" He wasn't hesitant in the least to agree. Outside of various compliments, he'd usually touch my hand or shoulder. In fact, just last week when I made a comment that I "feel" fat, he assured me that I'm not and reached over to grab and tickle my side.

To bring this to a close, what does it all mean?! Could it be that he's genuine or perhaps he's just a flirtatious kind of guy?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

It could mean anything. All flirting should be taken as meaning is that the person has SOME attraction to you. It does not mean, they want to date you, have sex with you, kiss you or anything else. However, it could indicate that they want to do any and all of those things. How do you react to the flirting? Do you flirt back? If not, tehn no matter what he intends, you are letting him hit on you then not reacting positively. If you want to do more than flirt, make a move in his direction. If he responds positively, you may have something. If he doesn't, then it is less likely that you do. Relationships develop when each person responds positively to the others indications of interest. It sounds to me as if he is genuine, but there is no real way to tell unless you make a move in his direction.

Erk, I probably won't be much help here, I'm useless at knowing when blokes are interested!

One thing I've been trying to do lately in a bid to break out of my shyness, is look paeople in the eye when talking to them, I first found this really hard, but I've been amazed by the response!

It works best when you're a little way away, perhaps when he's approaching you. (and you're wearing THE coat! )Just look a little longer than you would normally, smile a big sexy smile (while thinking lustful thoughts!) and look away again. If he's interested he'll keep looking and you can smile again etc.It lets him know you're interested without you having to say anything, thereforeeee avoiding embarrassment if he isn't!(Though it sounds to me like he is)

I've been absolutely amazed by this, I don't consider myself a ravishing beauty or anything, but when I first tried this I got about six big smiles from GORGEOUS chappies! It made my day!

I do return the touches and such. But even touch is difficult for me because I never know whether or not a person likes to be touched. In general I think my responses are well received. I suppose it all needs a bit more time.

Thanks for your responses! Anymore would be very helpful.

Cheers.
