samantha20
I've had bad nightmares ever since I was a child and as I have them most nights I wanted to create a thread to record them to maybe try and spot a pattern, because I usually forget them otherwise. Other people can feel free to add their dreams/nightmares too if they want. Just thought it would be an interesting way to try and make sense of them. So last night I dreamt that I was on the beach in the seaside town i live in. Their was a little girl sitting on the shore and the tide was coming in. My mum was on the prom and she was shouting for me to save the little girl on the beach. I saw a wave go over the little girl's head so I ran over towards her. She was completely submerged and I dived under the water to try and save her. I felt around on the sandy floor and managed to pick her up and hold her above the surface. I started swimming towards the shore and managed to stand up, still holding the little girl above the water. She was still alive and everyone on the prom, including my mum was cheering because I had saved this child. But just as I had started to step away from the water, another huge wave came and knocked her out of my arms. I tried so hard to cling on to her but she slipped back under... I dived back into the water and felt around for her again. It took so long to find her this time and the sea had dragged her back into the depths. I finally found her body but she had been under too long and had drowned. I carried her little body onto the beach and just lay there sobbing hysterically and feeling so guilty that I hadn't managed to save her, especially after I had come so close. So that was my nightmare, I haven't been able to shake it off all day. I wish I knew what these dreams mean. The sea has always been a re occurring theme in my dreams. Link to comment
Aleadragonhawk
That's a hard nightmare to have to deal with. Starting a thread to keep track of them is a great idea - if I remember any of mine I'll have to come post. I have reoccurring (though they happen less often now) dreams about non-consensual sex, and they're really hard to deal with for me. I talked to a counselor about them and found out that's it's normal for people who've been sexually abused to have nightmares when they're in a new sexual relationship... it's been a year now and I'm still having them, though it's down to once or twice a month now from every night. Maybe talking to a professional could help you come to the bottom of your dreams, too? It helped me some. Link to comment
MyNinja
Wow that's a bit strange! I had a nightmare last night that I was impailed by a metal pole. I was standing on a ladder and I slipped and got skewered. I actually felt the pain and was crying hysterically for someone to call 911. That was freaky! I hope these dreams are just that...dreams...and nothing more. Link to comment
samantha20
I had three dreams last night but all are very hazy.. the first one involved my ex who i broke up with a month ago, but can't really remember it. The second one was that I was having sex with my female flatmate. I'm very confused because this is a re occurring dream for me, but I don't even like the girl! I find her really shallow and stuck up! The third was that satan had locked me inside a dark hollow tree trunk.. no idea what this means, very random Link to comment
winchester3
When i was a kid i used to have reoccurring nightmares. Until one day i asked my self "What is it that is actually scary here?" once you wake up it's gone and after that, who cares? It's not real, it didn't actually happen. Link to comment
samantha20
last night I had a nightmare that a man set fire to my hair..there was more to it than that but cant really remember now Link to comment
samantha20
I actually had this amazing dream last night. I have reoccurring dreams about the ocean, they're usually bad but this one was so good. I was swimming through the ocean with an older man and woman that I've never met, but in my dream I knew them and trusted them. There was really bright, warm, evening sunshine and the sun was just starting to set, making the sea this shimmering golden colour. Everything was so warm and shimmering and the sea was so clear, and I could swim under water and see evrything so clearly. And we were on a journey, making our way somewhere.. In my dream I knew that the woman was gay..I'm not sure what the relevence of this was, we weren't attracted to eachother - she was much much older.. I just felt so comforted by the presense of the man and woman. I felt so at peace... Link to comment
samantha20
I think I had a nightmare that I got attacked by a vicious dog last night. That's also a re occurring theme in my dreams, not sure why because I'm not scared of dogs. I can't go into detail because I don't remember any more than that. Do you ever have a nightmare where you go to scream but however hard you try, nothing comes out? I think I just ended up making a weird gurgling noise in my sleep. Link to comment
Eric2.0
Nightmares are a nightmare to put horse shoes on... LMAO @ self. Link to comment
samantha20
so last night I dreamt that my ex's new bf was trying to get my phone off me to read the messages she has been sending me, and was chasing me around and trying to attack me... Link to comment

samantha20
Last night I dreamed that one of my three cats was dying. So I picked her up and tried to carry her to the vet as quickly as I could. But the whole time she was struggling and trying to get out of my arms. And when I got there I realised that she wasn't dying, it was actually my other cat that was, and I had brought the wrong one. So I rushed back home but the other cat had already died. Random I know. Also had a dream that I was going on holiday but kept forgetting to pack stuff. And when I was there I was debating whether or not to buy my ex an expensive gift. Then my nan and my aunty turned up (currently going through a family feud with them) and I started arguing with them. Link to comment
samantha20
Last night I had a nightmare that I got bitten by a huge snake and that its venom was going through my body and I could hardley breathe and my dad just stood there and did nothing. Link to comment
redrose85
The sea represents change usually. The little girl could represent something about you...maybe how you are growing up and leaving the little girl in you behind. Death and dying dreams are usually just about change and transformations. I just keep having nightmares because I'm feeling a bit anxious and guilty. Fires, robbers, monsters, giant spiders...it's not a good place in my head at night lately. lol Link to comment
samantha20
I've had a lot of nightmares in the last few days, I'll note the ones I can remember. One I can remember is that I was looking out my bedroom window, and I could see this girl standing on the roof of a house, looking over the edge and I knew that she was willing herself to jump off. She looked just like me. Instead of going to get help or trying to stop her, I just stood and watched. Eventually she jumped off and I just felt glad. Another one I remember is being in a river that swept me off to another country, can't really remember the rest but water is always a common theme although it's usually the sea. There was one where I was standing in a row with other people whilst someone was teaching us how to stab people with a sword, and the person teaching us was actually demonstrating on themselves and sticking a sword straight through themselves! I dreamt I was having sex with a man, and enjoying it, even though I'm confused sbout my sexuality at the moment. I also dreamt I was having sex with a teenage girl dressed in a silver costume! Last night I had a nightmare that I always have over and over - that I'm being chased down stairs. It's the most common nightmare I have, and although the situation changes, there's always stairs and I'm always running down them and jumping over the bannister to get away quicker. In this dream everyone was trying to kill eachother and there was a big, maze like building with hundreds of doors. If I didn't shut and bold every door behind me, then people would run through it and shoot me. My hands were trembling as I tried to pull doors shut just as people were about to walk through them and when I couldn't shut them quickly enough I got chased down the stairs... Link to comment
samantha20
last night I had a dream that this guy walked me home and wanted to come in but I didn't want to sleep with him so I said no. Then this woman from eastenders, who in my dream was my flatmate, started coming onto him but he said he liked me. Then I heard the guy shout 'omg run' and I turned around and this woman had a gun and started shooting me, and the gun was filled with cocktail sticks and they pierced me all over my body and then I got rushed to hospital. That's all I can remember... Link to comment
Diggitydave
Just curious, what do you do before you go to bed? Link to comment
samantha20
It depends, last night I had been out drinking, but usually I either work till 3am as a DJ or just go to bed early. I've had nightmares and really random dreams ever since I was little though.. Link to comment
samantha20
I had a nightmare a couple of nights ago that I had ladybirds crawling all over my body and I couldn't get them off. Coincidentally, my nickname for my ex was 'ladybird.' Sigh.. Link to comment
samantha20
had a bad dream last night that I put all my stuff on a train and then it drove off without me! Also constantly dreaming about having sex with my ex, who is with someone else Link to comment
Nurseman
As a child, my nightmares were really terrifying to me. One thing I'm really glad about being an adult is that my nightmares are "toned down". They don't seem anywhere near as bad. Link to comment
samantha20
ok, I used to live above this nightclub that I worked in, and it was a really old building with loads of long winding passages and empty rooms upstairs because it was an old hotel before it got made into a nightclub. Anyway last night I dreamed that I went up there because a lot of my stuff was still in there and I wanted it back. But upstairs there was this huge green ogre/monster thing that was really scary. In my dream I tried to seduce the monster so that it wouldn't hurt me & ended up kissing it and stuff. Really random!!! Link to comment
samantha20
keep having nightmares about being attacked by dogs even though im not scared of them in real life. Link to comment
samantha20
I had another dream about the sea last night. I dreamed that I was walking along the prom and the tide came in so far that it filled the path where I was walking, it became deeper and deeper.. then I was in a pub but saw my ex sitting with her new partner. I felt really upset and walked away with an overwhelming sense of loneliness. Then I found some little girls who were having a picnic and invited me to join them. I sat with them and they were really nice to me and made me feel like I wasn't alone anymore.. then the tide started coming in again and engulfing us, and like the first nightmare I wrote about I was trying to save the girls from drowning. What the hell does this mean?? Link to comment
samantha20
Looking back at this thread, I've realised that being unable to 'save' people is a reoccurring theme. The girls in the sea, the girl jumping off a building and my cat. Wouldn't have spotted that pattern without this thread. Hmm Link to comment
