rothman
Well, last night was a major drunk night for me. I usually don't drink at all, if I do it's social drinking, but I went on a binge for the hell of it. I am a little annoyed at myself for smoking two cigarettes. When I'm sober, I hate smokers and smoke in general, but when I get drunk I smoke cigarettes. Are there any detrimental health side effects for smoking a cigarette once in a blue moon? Sn0man
A smoke isn't going to hurt you in the last bit. Other than a bit of bad breath. Link to comment
Raiden
Not really. It's when "once in a blue moon" becomes more and more frequent, and eventually you are smoking daily that it becomes detrimental to your health. Obviously. Link to comment

Smoking one or two cigarettes once in a blue moon will have little or no detrimental effects on your health. Perhaps over a substantial amount of time it may accumulate, but not in the short term. I have know several 'social smokers' in my lifetime who only smoke once in a blue moon. There is nothing to suggest that you risk addiction. Some people just don't get bitten by the addiction. What you are not so much in control of is your actions when you drink which is perhaps more of concern. If you are that set against cigarette smoke it is strange that you would lose that stance under the influence of alcohol. Unless your stance against smoking is more to be PC than actual conviction. But that's by the by. To answer your original question, you face little side effects. Link to comment
CrazyKing
I have heard that it is more dangerous for a non-smoker to smoke rarely, because the lungs of a smoker have got used to the smoke, yours didn't... Not smoking at all is the best alternative... Link to comment
greensleeves
I think the only danger would be getting too attached to the cigarettes and letting it become a habit. If you're one of those lucky people that can have an occasional smoke and not become addicted, then why not? Link to comment
Aleadragonhawk
Probably not too bad, but I'd personally be a little worried about doing something when drunk that I'm firmly against when sober, myself. I know that part of the point of drinking is to lower inhibitions, but if you're doing things you don't like while drunk, I think that's reason to be a little concerned. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to drinking and smoking, though, so it may just be me. Link to comment
watupgangsta
hey there nothing wrong with having some fun dude... a cigarette can be nice when you're drunk. just don't smoke one when you're really drunk or it could give you the spins. as for health, i wouldn't worry about that in the least. i know somevcollegiate athletes who smoke on occasion and they are fine.
