No baby =(

It's my due date today and the baby didn't make his show.

Argh! Those fashionably late babies... he already thinks he's too good for me.

In my defense, I threw myself a pity party. I've been eating my favorite foods all day and went to Babies R Us. I've finally bought the Fisher Price Rainforest Swing I've been eye-ing for so long!! It was on special for 120$ instead of 180$ =) Everyone tells me the swing is THE essential for baby care so I would have felt like a bad mother without it. I'm sure it's going to save me a lot in the long run. (I also got washable nursing pads but that's not as fun of news)

There's so many things I want for baby that my cousin got ex: pack n' play, bumbo seat etc... but I suppose I'll pass on those for now...

Awww =( that's no fun!! The nursery is rain forest / jungle theme so it's really great! It's bright green and Zanzibar-themed.

I don't know why I got an "under the sea" gym instead of the rain forest one in the end... I make weird decisions sometimes!!

I also have a bouncy seat that my mom got at a second hand store... my boyfriend really thinks it's cheap and does not seem to like it much. I love the swing so much more.

As much as I am sure you are just ready for that baby to hurry up and get here; try your best to enjoy these last few days of just you & your sweetie too - I know you are looking VERY much forward to the new baby (and ready to have your body back I am sure) but believe me, you will be grateful you two took some last few days to get some good quality couple time in And some YOU time.....I would start taking lots of showers and baths now in peace.....all day long....as there are going to be days you don't get them coming up soon...(I have no kids, but I see it ALL the time in my friends!).

Don't worry so much about what you don't have in terms of all the new stuff....I have been to a few baby showers lately and I am amazed at how much more crap there is even in the last few years.....it was much more simple when I was little, that is for sure! Babies really DON'T need as much crap as people seem to think they do (we have friends whom moved out of their LARGE bungalow to a house 3x bigger when their first born was a few weeks old as they felt they ran out of space....as there was so much "stuff"!).

And, at least they DO induce if you go to far over these days. My mum was THREE weeks overdue with me....in a HOT JULY SUMMER before they induced (and I still took almost 72 hours to come out! Yikes!

I never hear about babys makeing it on the exact day, so you're not the only one lol. Are you haveing any contractions or whatever?

I don't think I would be as crazy as getting a new house to fit our baby stuff! haha! We live in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment, but I can see how collecting a lot of baby things can take up room. If I bought everything that I found cute I could surely fit 5 rooms easily.

I feel kind of uneasy about not having a pack n' play because we will surely be required to provide one for day care... plus by not having one we are basically imposing people to provide their own place for our baby to stay. My parents are taking the dog basket which they put me in for the first few weeks. That won't be safe in a few months though.

Let's just say, it didn't induce labor but (TMI WARNING!!) it induced something else you don't want to be experiencing at anytime much less during labor and the cramping from the castor oil was worse than actual labor cramps.. Yea..

eek.... ive been thinking about the castor oil..... I doubt I'll have the nerve to buy it come the time I go to the store again.

my friend used the oil stuff and went into labor the next day... I doubt I would be that lucky.

Haha! I hope you don't mind me laughing but it's rather funny. If it's worst than the labor cramps then I'm not too sure I'd want to drink some!

I am going to get induced relatively soon anyways thereforeeee I'm not too impatient (10 days after due date - standard in Canada). I am getting my induction ultrasound on the 29th!! It makes the thought of the baby not coming more manageable since the u/s is only in a few days. I guess they can reassure me that my baby is healthy and whether or not I am in a proper condition for induction. (Hopefully not too big by then!!!)

She had already progressed to 5 cm dilated and 90% effaced. when I hear from the dr on monday I think I may decide then. Mousty has scared me out of wanting the induction (haha thanks girl)

Hehe you are welcome! I've heard so many stories on the iVillage boards about C-Sections after failed inductions. I'm quite paranoid of getting one. I know they are safe and common but I would really rather have my child through vaginal means.

On top of that, you get the harsher contractions... you can't get an epidural until you are 4cm dilated

Actually, i was born on my exact due date. My mom didnt' expect me to come that day, because she said "i never heard of any baby making it on the exact due date" Lol

I am enjoying the sleeping time when I'm not getting kicked or anything haha!

I think the induction process is pretty standard here compared to the United States where you can electively opt to get induced.

I think they aim to schedule induction 10 days after the due date, which can basically fall at the end of your 42 weeks depending on their availability.

They probably would allow me to go the full 14 days if I kicked and moaned....

My due date cannot be all that "off". I found out very early (4-5 weeks pregnancy) and got an ultrasound date shortly after. I think the deviation is at most 5 days at this stage. I've heard they can be off by a lot if you get dated in the second or third trimester (almost 2 weeks off!) though.

My due date couldnt have been that off either... My period was 3 days late when we found out we were pregnant and it was like clockwork.. always on time etc etc... I was 5 days overdue.... hopefully you wont be any more then that... it starts to get really frustrating... knowing your baby could be here ANY day now but you dont know which day! Good Luck and keep us updated....

Eat spicy foods!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure if it really works but I've heard that. My sister was in love with spicy stuff during the end of her pregnancy (I think that she just wanted it to end lol) and was only two days late (most of the babies in our family are somewhere from 2-4 weeks late!).

But yeah, like others have said just enjoy your time now and whatnot lol...
