jengh
Yeah, that happened to me. I think it's all of the crap working its way out of your system. I coughed up sick stuff for weeks. Link to comment
jengh
PS--congrats on making it for 5 weeks! Non-smokers may think 5 weeks isn't that long, but as a former heavy smoker, I know how long 5 weeks feels!!!!! Link to comment
rocio
it's normal to cough alot after quitting smoking. it's you lungs clearing all the junk out. it's all good stuff. i feel SO much better as a non-smoker. wouldn't take it up again for anything in the world Link to comment
i miss her 2
I quit smoking 2 and a half years ago (smoked for 6 years) and I feel great. I don't have cravings. I did for a while but I quit cold turkey. I didn't get Carr's book until way after I quit so I could stop having cravings and it really helped alot. My chest did hurt for a while after I quit but I don't feel it anymore at all. I can breathe so much better, I have more energy, and I can sing better too. Congrats. I imagine alot of people will be quiting soon. They just passed a law here that say's you can only smoke in your home or your car. Link to comment
livinginsbi
Same here. I got bronchitis every year in Oct when I smoked. Quit in Feb 1994 and had the gunk coming up for a while. Thought I'd seen the end of bronchitis - until Oct - there it was again - and the worse case I ever had. But since then nothing! Unforutnately, even after all this time, if I have a really stressful day, I do crave a smoke. But I convince myself that I don't want to go back there after all these years - and don't think you can buy a pack, just smoke one and it'll be fine. Congrats on quitting - it IS worth it!! Airlie18
I agree. Read the Allen Carr book. It teaches you to think in terms of "quitting" smoking and not "giving up" smoking etc. Link to comment
winchester3
You ever hear of social smoking? My old man sort of does that. He smokes for work because most of his clients are smokers and it reels in more business for him when he smokes with his associates. He only smokes when he has too. Link to comment
Airlie18
I don't want to keep referring to the book BUT... in the book it explains that social smokers or casual smokers are the most "pathetic" of all because they think they can quiet at any time and are not really addicted to smoking. Once they do try to quiet though they find that they are addicted just like the rest of the smokers. Ask any smoker if he or she would have taken the first cigarette and they would all say no. It's not a fun habbit. Link to comment
