Essian
First are the two linked and if so, what happens if one reduces masterbation? Link to comment
RooferGirl23
Im not sure about the masturbation theory, but I have heard that the more testosterone one has the more hair they will loose. this is why you see hair-loss mainly in men. Link to comment
RayKay
Yeah, masturbation does not cause hair loss - that is a myth. More testosterone as the poster above pointed out does increase baldness, hair loss - as well as libido so those with more testosterone may masturbate more - but it is not masturbation that increases hair loss. Ash
I'm likely wrong, but I thought testosterone made hair grow in certain places. That aside, I also wasn't under the impression that masturbation affected hormone levels. Isn't it more the other way around? Think somebody with more time on their hands than me needs to do some more digging into the science behind the question though. Don't take my word for it on this! Link to comment
LostInMyThoughts
there is no link to masturbation (chronic or otherwise) and hair loss. Link to comment
BeStrongBeHappy
Nope... that's just an old wives' tale. Link to comment
Miss Firecracker
I thought you would just go blind. Link to comment
Essian
How can you guys be so sure? Link to comment
shes2smart
link removed One of many sources. If you want to blame something for hair loss, the major thing to blame is your genetic heritage. Link to comment
Essian
I get a slight hair loss and am in my 20s yet both my dad and grandpa have very full thick hair. How can that be if it is genetics? Link to comment
Zorba
Excessive masturbation will actually reduce slightly the level of testosterone in the blood, which will in turn reduce the level of DHT in the blood. DHT is what causes hair loss in men with a genetic weakness in the hair follicle. It's genetics basically, although low nutrition and stress may accelerate the process. Link to comment

LostInMyThoughts
I have a slight hair loss and am in my 20s yet both my dad and grandpa have very full thick hair. How can that be if it is genetics? Because male pattern baldness comes from your moms side. Also, I masturbate a lot, and I'm a hairy hairy beast. Link to comment
LostInMyThoughts
also there are more links to diet and hairloss, than masturbation and hair loss. Link to comment
Essian
I got IBD, Crohn's disease, do you think that may be it then? Link to comment
JeckyllNHyde
I get a slight hair loss and am in my 20s yet both my dad and grandpa have very full thick hair. How can that be if it is genetics? Maybe your moms side of the family. Genetics isn't only traced to your dad and grandpa either. SOmetimes you get a part of your great grandmas genetics for instance. Link to comment
Essian
Maybe but my mom's side of the family has everyone who had full hair until over 50 also. Link to comment
Flux
Hmm, I think that may be a bit of a myth.. But maybe, if it were true. If you stopped masturbating any pubic hair that was worn away by friction could grow back and you could collect it and make a wig. Then when you've gotten your wig you can continue to have one off every now and them LOL Sorry, I don't think that was remotly helpful, but I couldn't resist.... Link to comment
ghost69
i would have no hair on my head if that was the case. Link to comment
Belgian girl
I get a slight hair loss and am in my 20s yet both my dad and grandpa have very full thick hair. How can that be if it is genetics? I'm 21 and I have hairloss b/c I've got the auto-imume (sry for spelling disorder) order alopecia areata which could probably be caused by having had a period full of heavy stress (and also some genetical factors what are raising the chance of getting it) not sure if it could be something like that in your case as well Link to comment
HajiMaji
The presense of a base level of testosterone makes male hair grow on the body. The more or less testosterone you have is relatively insigificant to the amount of hair you actually grow on your body. Male baldness is mainly genetic. Specifically, the process in which hair follicles deteriorate is controlled by testosterone. Testosterone in the male body gets converted to another type of testosterone which facilitates hair loss. It is the conversion of testosterone that speeds up your balding. The amount of testosterone you convert into the specialized testosterone is determinate on your mother's genes. If her father is bald, it is almost certain you will be bald. So really there is nothing you can do about it except decide to love it. Link to comment
