Grapefruit
I was wondering if its possible to be pregnant and still have your period while on Birth Control. Would the pills cause you to have a period or would you miss it? Im only asking because I went about a week without the pills (moved and the new doctor didnt get my file in time.) I started the pills when I was about 17ish because I have PCOS - and was told that it would be difficult for me to have children. So my Fiancee and I had sex without condoms - always pulling out (I know its not 100% safe and such, we usually use condoms). Just wanted to know - cause if the period doesnt come then I'll buy a pregnancy test, but if it still comes (due to the pills) then I dunno. Should I still buy one just in case? I wasnt really worried about it until I read the "Early signs of pregnancy?" Thread. Ive been peeing alot, been tired and my lower back has been killing me. Thanks in advance for replies. Mythical_Suicide
You can still get your period and be pregnant (my son is proof of that, LOL) If you suspect you're pregnant you need to stop the pills until you know for sure if you are or not.. Link to comment

I thought that I should stop the pills, but theres a problem. The reason I started the pills was when I was younger I would go 9 to 10 months without a period. My mom didnt believe me when I told her I wasnt having sex and she took me into the doctor. So if I stop taking the pills and DONT have a period, then how will I know if I should take the test or not? Its been about 3 weeks since we had sex without the condom (3 or 4 times without the condom) so do you think its to early to take the test? Much Love Grapefruit Link to comment

Shiranai
when you haven't taken your birth control pills for a week, how can you call yourself "on the pill" ? You weren't on the pill. Even if you were on the pill, it's possible to get pregnant while using it DAILY. If you're pregnant, you'll miss your period during the 1 week break. ... you've been taking it since you're 17, but apparently you never read the booklet that came with every pack of your pill. In any case, you should probably go buy a pregnancy test. You're probably pregnant. Link to comment
Grapefruit
be careful with having PCOS.. thinking you cant get pregnant... my best friend has PCOS and her and her finance tried for 3 years... fertility treatments and everything.... they ended up spliting up in June.. July she started a new relationship and now she is 23 weeks pregnant..... she was told she will most likely never have her own children... and it wasnt her fiance.. they both were tested and she was defintely the problem.... My sister has a friend who has PCOS and both her and her husband tried to get pregnant. She ended up getting pregnant and lost the baby both times around 6 weeks. when you haven't taken your birth control pills for a week, how can you call yourself "on the pill" ? You weren't on the pill. It wasn't a whole week, it was more like 3 or 4 days. I stated that I was on the pill to inform the readers that Ive been taking them regularly for the past 4 years but had to stop taking them due to a moving issue. The Issue was the fact that the doctor refused to give me my birth control until he had had a chance to look over my file. Even if you were on the pill, it's possible to get pregnant while using it DAILY. I didn't know if the Pill may have the same effect as the "Depo-Provera" Which my sister in law took and stated that after your last shot it remained in your system for a few months and still protected you from pregnancy. If you're pregnant, you'll miss your period during the 1 week break. What one week break? I have my birth control pills and have been taking them for almost a full two weeks. ... you've been taking it since you're 17, but apparently you never read the booklet that came with every pack of your pill. I have read the booklet, each time I get a new packet AND when I changed brands. I followed my nurses instructions when I received the package after the appointment and I *do not* take more than one pill in the same day( which is what the booklet says to do if a pill is missed). I did that once and was so sick I couldn't get out of bed. In any case, you should probably go buy a pregnancy test. You're probably pregnant. If I'm pregnant then its a good thing, my fiancée and I both want kids, but if I'm not then thats ok too Much Love Grapefruit Link to comment

Just because she has missed a few pills doesn't mean she hasn't read the information on it.. I know I read every little detail but I still managed to miss a few pills here and there, it happens!! Also to say "you're probably pregnant" is really screwed up. There is a high chance that she may be but that doesn't mean that she is and that was kind of a snappy way to respond. Link to comment
sharsachan
i would take a test whether your period comes or not. a lady i work with didnt realize she was pregnant until she was 25 or 26 weeks along [five and a half months] because she was taking birth control pills and they did make her have a period every month, even with the pregnancy. take the test to be safe. if you want to be super sure, go to a doctor and have them do one.
