renaissancewoman101
I figured out something today. My height is really what probably turns people off from me, or not get people noticing me in the right way (aka, I DON'T want people to stare at me weirdly because of how tiny I am). If I am a few inches taller, I will get guys who will give a look of interest in my way. Over the weekend, I bought a new pair of ankle-length boots. Unlike most of my other boots, these boots have a three inch heel (imagine three-inch heels in boot form). I wore them today with pants and a nice top, for work. People noticed I look taller, commented me on that. I also got some looks from guys while I was at lunch (I usually go buy lunch around the area), and when I went to pick up groceries tonight, I got some looks too. I guess I look more feminine wearing boots with three inch heels, and looking taller a bit, probably is attractive. Now, I just have to get used to wearing these boots. One thing, they hurt like hell, and I feel like I am going to twist my ankle or fall (I'm kinda klutzy But, sad to say, height really does play a big deal when it comes to attraction. Link to comment
_C_J_
I don't think it's that people consciously put off people for being a certain height, but from what I've found is that people are most attracted or comfortable with a 6'' difference or so between the guy and the girl. So my suggestion is buy some more heels or hang out with shorter people jk Link to comment
pinkelephant
Weird, I love short girls. I think theyre adorable. Link to comment
JeckyllNHyde
I dunno, usually I hear from guys they like tiny girls. A guy recently told me that as well just yesterday, maybe it makes him feel like "the guy" and he loves walking next to a shorter woman. But even though you are short your lucky your a woman. We can wear heels! Just be carefull eh? Don't want to hear you twisted your ankles or anything. I find women in heels look more sexy, and feminine too like you said. If you feel a bit scared you may fall practice walking at home with them on, or heels. Or get heels which aren't all that skinny or not too high (but not chunky at all either!) Just walk around the place with them. I feel when I wear heels (which is occasionally) I feel more confident and walk more confident and stuff. Link to comment
lilypadgirl
Are you sure it's the heels and not the confidence you were exuding? Link to comment
sandyv
I don't know why, but when I wear heels I always feel more noticeable, and it sure does make a difference.....! I'm 5' 2", so am quite small as well. Link to comment
definitely_maybe
I have been attracted to both short girls and tall girls. To me, i don't think height does make a difference. Maybe subconsciously? Sure i prefer taller, but i don't think height would ever be a deal breaker for me. I think some of the attention you got at work was simply because there was a change. J&H, I think women, when they wear heels, they walk better and tend to be more confident in their poise and walking habit. With these heeled boots, I felt more confident and walked in a more confident fashion. It also made me feel taller. I showed my best friend and his bf the boots last night (I bought them right before I went to see them), and they said my tastes are getting better and I am dressing better and look better. I'm dressing the way I WANT, not how my mom thinks I should dress. She would kill me if she saw me wearing boots like these. My mom thinks I will fall if I wear heels. I just try to take it slow when I wear these boots and pick up my feet when I walk, etc. Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
BTW, I'm REALLY small. I'm only 4'5" tall. I kinda look (heightwise), like a grade schooler. Link to comment

I'm happy your not letting your mom make you feel bad for the way you want to dress or the fact you want to look (which leads to also feeling) nice about yourself. I had read a few of your threads about your mom not liking you wearing make up etc etc. I think (just my opinion) she wants you to stay conservative and like she was when she was younger and maybe now still, so she puts you down about make up or says you will fall if you wear heels. You won't, just practise and know you can do it. It's cool to see your choosing your own path. (My dad used to tell me I shouldn't wear make up till I was a certain age and I shouldn't do my eyebrows and I shouldn't do this and that just b/c my mom didn't. But I'm happier just going my own way and feeling better. He also is fully ok with it now.) Link to comment
annie24
ren, have you talked to a doctor or an osteopath about the falling down/klutz thing? i don't think walking around in shoes where you think you will fall over all the time is safe - maybe talk to a doctor about why this is...? renaissancewoman101
Annie, I have some issues with my equilibrium, hence that is also why I have a tendency to rock back and forth, not in a really noticeable way though. It's hard to explain. I've seen doctors about it and I had surgery back a few years, to try to correct that issue (the surgery didn't work and for a few months afterwards, I had major issues with my equilibrium to a point that I was even having a hard time driving, but that went away and it went back to the way I am now). Definitely Maybe, I am tiny and a bit stocky. Here's how I look. image removed Link to comment
annie24
what about going to a different doctor about it? try to pin down what the equilibrium issues are all about. is it inner ear, or something with your spine? i know some natural healers also who deal with kind of hard to diagnose issues, i know some people have had success with them. there are certain yoga poses for balance also, those may be good for you to practice. definitely_maybe
ah, the classic "in the mirror" shot. It is very clear you are not in grade school. thank goodness eh. that would come with it's own set of issues. Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
DefinitelyMaybe, that's what you get when I don't have anyone else to take a pic of me. When I was referring to grade school, I meant heightwise, NOT lookwise. Annie, the issues were pinned down to my inner ear, especially my left ear. I also have other issues with my spine (but not sure if that is connected to the ear issue). About 3-4 years ago, I had a full set of MRI's done of my spine, neck, brain, and even a CT scan of my brain, because of my spinal, equilibrium, and hearing issues. We tried to fix the hearing/equilibrium issues and that was NOT a success. The spinal issues are a bit more intense and in-depth to fix. I should get a second look at my issues out here since there are more doctor choices out here in CA. Carriebradshawny, I wanted to try and wear heels because I see so many women out here wearing them, and it feels good to look taller. I dunno. Link to comment
Alezia
I have what is considered by most the "perfect" girl height (5"6) for girls. Don't need to make edges on my pants either =D I think that wearing heels makes you look more slender and toned too, might that be it? Link to comment
annie24
yeah, a second opinion might not be bad. what about alternative medicine, like accupuncture or a natural healer of sorts? i am pretty skeptical of them, but some people i know have found good ones and swear by them. my yoga instructor had horrible back troubles that no doctor could figure out, then she went to an alternative pain clinic and the person told her that her back was slightly out of alignment (one hip slightly higer than the other) and now whenever she sits, she puts a thin piece of foam under that other hip, and now she says that has cured everything, no more problems. i had horrible lower back pain and no doctor gave me any good advice. i finally got better when we got new chairs at work (unrelated to me asking for them or whatever) and now i feel 100% better. yeah, i agree with carrie - you may want to just stick to tiny heels until you get this issue under control - falling down is not sexy and you can hurt yourself! crutches are even less sexy. JadedStar
Ren i have rarely left the house wihtout my heels in over 20 years lol I am so used to them its like wearing running shoes....I'm 4'11 and got used to wearing heels years ago...decades...but actually its not to be taller. My feet feel better in heels than flats... I don't mind being small at all. Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
Mousty, I'm not sure. This is how the boots look on me. The pic is kinda blurry. image removed Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
Carriebradshawny, do heels really cause damage to your feet? Especially if you've never worn shoes with much of a heel before? Link to comment
pinkelephant
and fittting straight legged jeans would help too. those boots look cute. as for the feet thing, get a medical sole it helps a lot. Link to comment
JeckyllNHyde
Another tip for the illusion of longer legs.....darker jeans. Yes Ren Woman heels can damage your feet. ohh that i never knew. so how do they damage feet? i wear heels only once in a while. usually flats. any tips so my feet don't get damaged? what shoes are better to wear? or should i wear heels more often so they get more accostomed? I wear em like maybe once a week. oh yea and ren. i agree, a straighter jean or one will look great with those boots. maybe the jean tucked in the boot.. oh la la.(if they are ankle or knee boots). Alezia
I think the boots do make your leg look good. If they don't well maybe I just like heels on you =) Yes dark jeans work very well... I always thought slightly flared fitted jeans would give you a skinner look though as the bottom width balances out the top section. Your jeans are still quite a bit baggy though. Most of my jeans right now are boot-cut but not skinny jeans.... not sure I could do the whole skinny jean thing =) Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
I can't wear fitted jeans really well because of the odd shape of my legs. I have rather chubby thighs and REALLY short legs. Link to comment
