blindreepr
I was thinking about studying to become a personal trainer. While doing research I found there are TONS of organizations that certify people to become personal trainers. Which ones do you have and what is considered to be the best one or the most accepted one? Are there any that are looked down upon? Also is there anything I should know before studying or becoming a personal trainer? I have a medical background and already have my CPR card. Thanks for any info/advice. Link to comment

Alezia
I've heard some gyms don't care about what certifications you already have or college degree prior to being employed, they will just make you re-certify anyways. (This is GoodLife anyways) Not really in that field so I don't know much else. Link to comment
ghost69
i think most are NCSA. i see that everywhere and have heard many bodybuilder and fitness freaks talking about it. Link to comment
jenniferthomas
If you're having a hard time getting motivated at the health club, or just don't feel like you're getting enough out of your exercise routine, consider hiring a personal trainer. Link to comment

Very informative. *trollface* OP, stay away from "weekend warrior" courses. I'm not sure what the American courses are, but I do know ACSM, and that's the equivalent of CPAFLA up here in Canada. I would definitely recommend that one. May be more expensive, but you get taught way more. I'll be a CPT (certified personal trainer) next semester, and get my exercise physiology certificate in June. Good luck. Link to comment
Alezia
I always find it creepy when a thread from like 4 years ago resurfaces. Link to comment
