I want this to work!!! VENT.

Hey all.

I knew a girl in high school, her being two years younger than myself, and we were pretty close, we were friends, and i had possibly the most gigantic crush that I have ever had on a girl. She made my heart soar. Well she got a boyfriend, and the relationship lasted roughly 5 years, and we lost contact because I had graduated. We would see each other on and off and at one point we exchanged numbers and talked for a time though she was till dating her bf at the time. However, a few weeks ago thanks to Facebook we started talking again, and i felt those old familiar feelings come back. I found out her and the boyfriend for five years broke up a month ago, and we spent a huge amount of time that week talking, via IM and telephone. Now I am happy to say that I am in a relationship with her, she came up to my dorm last weekend.

However, some things really worry me, her low esteem bothers me. She and her ex fought very often. I try to boost her up by being truly honest with her telling her shes beautiful and smart, which i believe is most definetely the truth. But i believe she just shrugs it off as me being polite.

Another thing is that we took things a bit too fast when we finally saw each other, she ended up staying the night, and it took a LOT of self control to not have sex. We both really wanted to, but I told her no. Because my last relationship got screwed up because of sex, and so did hers.

I just really want this to work, its not often that a guy gets to be with the girl he's always been wanting to be with and I realize that if i get really deep into this relationship just thinking its gonna fail it will.

Anything I could do to improve the relationship better?

Any advice or comments?

Could use anything and everything.

why did you break-up? no break-up is mutual. i don't care how many people say that. one wants it more than the other. you can agree that it won't work, but someone is always bothered by it.
