cellhero Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 how do people break the news to their parents? do you just say 'i need to tell you something: i have a girlfriend' ? is that it? i've just never done this before, advice would really be appreciated because i feel nervous about this.
Censored Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 hmmmm, well, i am not really concerned how old you are, but yes you would just tell them. Why are you asking this question, are yu afraid of your parents reaction?
ftheunion Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 My friend never told his mom when he had his first gf for a few weeks. I think I will use that approach. Just hang out a lot and if they are any bit curious of the obvious, then tell her shes your friend. It wouldn't be lying. But ya next time I'm not gonna go out and tell them. I'm too old for that. Even though I live with them, theres no need to. I say treat it as any other friend.
wiser Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 If only OPs would put age and gender in their profiles this thread would be a lot shorter.
Censored Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 grrrrrrrrr, the OP asked a question hung around for ages, then bailed with no response. Wiser, what was he thinking?
Gath Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 he probably got scared by your eyeball, niceguy. it is kinda freeky.
cellhero Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 grrrrrrrrr, the OP asked a question hung around for ages, then bailed with no response. Wiser, what was he thinking? i just wasn't expecting the semi-nasty responses. different people get nervous about different things. this is one of the few things that bothers me because of the relationship i have with my parents, and i feel like it's never the right time to mention it. also, i guess i didn't really get the answer i was looking for, which would have been some easy way out. i think i'll opt for ftheunion's answer for now.
Sweet Buttabean Jellayroll Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 depens on your age 3-5 = mommy, mommy i have a gf..... 6-10 = hey mom, i have this thing called a gf, she really likes me 11-17 = damnit mom i have a GF deal with it 18+ = you should reveiw your life and see where you went wrong.
definitely_maybe Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 When i was in elementary school, i was very scared to tell my parents i had a girlfriend. i took it as a sign that i was not mature enough to have one.

Op seems to think the responses that were mean. I see only questions as to the OPs age and gender, which is quite important for this particular topic.

Semi Nasty responses!!!!! Are you kidding me, all we had prior to this post of yours was questions to help clarify. How old are you? Why are you scared? How are they nasty responses. You didn't answer any of them. No one here is being nasty to you. Honestly. We just started bantering amongst ourselves b/c you had disappeared.
