do you just say 'i need to tell you something: i have a girlfriend' ?

i've just never done this before, advice would really be appreciated because i feel nervous about this.

My friend never told his mom when he had his first gf for a few weeks. I think I will use that approach. Just hang out a lot and if they are any bit curious of the obvious, then tell her shes your friend. It wouldn't be lying. But ya next time I'm not gonna go out and tell them. I'm too old for that. Even though I live with them, theres no need to.

i just wasn't expecting the semi-nasty responses. different people get nervous about different things. this is one of the few things that bothers me because of the relationship i have with my parents, and i feel like it's never the right time to mention it.

 

also, i guess i didn't really get the answer i was looking for, which would have been some easy way out. i think i'll opt for ftheunion's answer for now.
