Alezia
Hi! I am just a bit concerned about my weight going down at this stage during pregnancy (33 weeks). I have been told it was normal to lose some weight at the end of the pregnancy but I just didn't know how late in pregnancy to expect. I haven't dropped 10lbs or anything relatively close to that number. Right now I am scheduled to go to my doctor's every 2 weeks thereforeeee I suppose he would tell me if my weight was dropping too fast? Link to comment
BeStrongBeHappy
your baby is bulking up very quickly at this stage... and they take what they need from your body in terms of calories, so if you're eating the same, it could be a net loss for you... so perhaps you need to ramp up the calories a bit until your weight evens off... make sure you are getting enough calcium and protein in particular, as you don't want to have the baby drawing too much on your muscle or bone mass. i know a woman who had TWELVE cavities a while after she gave birth... she hated milk and cheese and had not been getting enough calcium in her diet when pregnant, so the baby was just drawing what it needed from her body to build bones and it weakened her teeth drawing calcium and minerals from her! odd how that works, but you're building a little person in there, and they take what they need from your system. southerngirl
I gained no weight at all during my last trimester with my daughter. I worried. The doc said it was normal. She came out fine. Link to comment
Alezia
Haha ouch! I have recently been increasing my dosage of "milk products" such as cheese, yogurt etc... (I really hate milk, cannot stand it) The doctor gave me a chart with the "star rating" of anything with calcium in it and I have averaging the recommended portions! I don't know how many more calories I can consume before I get my head chopped off! The boyfriend already wants me out of the fridge since I eat everything =) I'll try to see if I am getting the right amount of calories though. I was just basing myself off the Canadian Food Plan with portions and portion size. I had gained quite a bit of weight in the first trimester of my pregnancy so maybe it's balancing off or something. I'm in my 35th week and my last appointment was last week. I hadn't seen the doc in a month, and in that month I didn't gain a pound. It really worried me that the bby didn't do any growing at all. But your thread has given me alot of reasurrance. ~ I've only gained 21 pounds so far. I don't know if that's normal or not. I haven't been eating very much, as you have though. I've been super stressed with relationship problems and my appetite is near nothing. Also i've been on T3's constantly, so i don't know if that has anything to do with the appetite. It's good to know that the baby takes from you what they need. There is much less to worry about that way. At the very least, i know i'm not harming him, just me. How are you feeling? Do you have energy? Also, have you thought of taking calcium supplements? There are those chewable things, as well as tablets. I've been bad in that regard as well. I have taken maybe 40 prenatal vitamins through out the whole pregnancy. Link to comment
Alezia
I have gained more weight during my early pregnancy and it seems like it suddenly stopped which is why I was a bit more concerned. I've been trying to eat more than I normally would yesterday and today. I will see if the scale goes up by the end of the week. Hopefully it does! My appetite is quite normal though, if I was not eating as much as I usually am like you are saying then it would make logical sense to why I would be maintaining / losing the weight. It's good to know that the baby will take whatever it needs. I do feel in great shape and energy even though I am not gaining so maybe I'm just worrying for nothing. I am trying to take my prenatal vitamins each supper but I do forget sometimes! I do take vitamin D and calcium supplements together if I find I have not eaten enough milk products during my day. I guess I'll find out when I go to the doctor next week, I have an appointment on Tuesday. Link to comment
