mazzy1212 Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 The facts of the case are as followed... My parents and I had a cruise planned and my ex was coming with us. Everything is paid for and my parents told me I could bring a friend along and it would be 100% free just as it was going to be for my ex. I would love to invite my new bf (of 3 months, friends for about a year) to come with us. The issue is I dont know if its innapropriate to ask him to come on vacation with people he has only met once... not to mention he's filling the spot of my ex. Its not like we are going to spend all the time with my parents. When I went with my ex we usually had a dinner or two with my parents and did some day excursions with them but other wise it was just me and my ex. My bf doesnt get to go on vacation due to financial factors and I know we'd have a great time but my questions is... is it wrong to even ask? I wouldnt be upset at all if he said no (for whatever reason), I just really would like to offer this opportunity to him. Is this weird/wrong?
Batya33 Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 I think it's fine and a very nice gesture. As long as you are totally cool with him deciding not to go (which I believe he might because of the reasons you said not for any "bad" reason). Have fun!
Gath Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 I think 3 months is long enough, just don't let him know he's taking someone else's place.
mazzy1212 Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 seems like the decision is unanimous. im going to ask him tonight-yikes! he will know that the spot was originally for my ex. he knows that my ex was going on vacation with us as we have been friends for a while and im sure he will remember this fact.
Hope75 Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Would you feel more comfortable asking a girlfriend along instead?
mazzy1212 Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 i have two females i would like to take but one doesnt have the vacation days (its 8 work days that theyd need to take off) and she just got married so she sorta blew all her days on the wedding/honeymoon and the other friend has two small vacations already planned for 2008 so im assuming she wont have the extra vacation days. both of these things i already knew so i didnt bother asking them.
Jess... Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I think it's fine. If he doesn't get the chance to go on vacation very often, he might jump at the chance!
