KG Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Have inheritted wrinkles and worry lines. Tonight I went to an after hours get together, people my age without a line on their face. I know I got a few, or more, after dealing with everything that has happened, but....Just feel like I look ancient! Any ideas???
Snoopy24 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 How old are you? I am 25, and when i was 23....just TWO years ago, I didn't have one wrinkle. Now I have them under my eyes and on my forehead and I even noticed veins on my legs! I guess it's just a part of getting older. It really upsets me. I have been using vitamin e cream under my eyes and just trying to eat healthier. it has started to help a little bit. Besides creams and eating healthy the only other alternative is to get surgery.
Portage Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Laugh! Laughter reduces stress hormones, which in turns relaxes your muscles and frees facial skins from undesirable wrinkles. Larry the Cable guy is a great remedy Plus, laugh lines build character and share a story. No turn off in that.
Entomon Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 What's the probability that they had help from a needle? Very high I guarantee you that.
Portage Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 ^ Down the road IF i feel i could use a bit of botox, hell, i'd do it!! Plus i'd still incorporate the laughter
KG Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 Carrie, More snake oil salespeople for wrinkles than ....something, IDK.! LOL!! KG
Stinkweed Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I'm 19 (well almost 20) and people think I'm like 25. In high school, people outside school always thought I was older than I really was. When I was 18 I had smooth skin, and it didn't change too much even as I was turning 19, and people thought I was young (They'd say: Hey, you look young, you must be a student, whenever I talked to someone in the city). But now, hard to believe only a year has passed and people say: So, what do you live off of? Or: You must be a senior, instead, or: Whoa, I thought you were 20-something, which is ridiculous, cause I definitively don't have that many wrinkles... In fact, I don't have but like 2 actual wrinkles (which is only fair considering I take care of my body, don't smoke, and work out a lot)... It's just that my forehead has been doing strange things (but it doesn't even look like wrinkles. Looks like a really slight swelling like on the eyebrow area) and I've got dark circles under my eyes from no sleep. However, I see many people age (especially guys) and their foreheads look like a corrugated cardboard. So, I just think people who call me old just don't know what they're talking about. Probably something in my stature and frame, cause I don't look like a lanky youngster. But I don't really care. I mean, I'd rather be seen as old as I really am, because I'm already 5 years too immature and being seen as 10 years too immature is just bad, and I don't really care that if I got a fake ID I'd be more believable, cause I don't even drink, but oh well.
Stinkweed Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 stay out of the sun unless you have sunscreen on. Yeah, I should've worn more sunscreen, I guess...Maybe that's what got me? But it's weird, because the year I was out in the sun most, was before that "you must be a student" phase...
pinkelephant Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Yea, i always think i look like an old woman. even when i was 6. yeah, six years old. im pretty sure its just in your mind. i tell my mom that she only looks 40 everyday. you should start telling yourself you look great. its not lying to yourself, its just seeing yourself in a more positive light. im sure you dont look old.
Angel_baby Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I am rather suspicious of people over 25 who have faces as smooth as a baby's butt ... but that could be just me My husband has a smooth face. He still looks like he is 17! When I used to smoke I would get checked for ID allllllll the time. One person refused to sell it to me cause she thought I was 16. I do have a few small wrinkles from stress but people still think I am the age of my youngest sis. It isn't a good thing when you look really young trying to land a "big" high paying job. Have to wear my glasses just to make me look closer to my age.
Madman22 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hey im a beauty therapist and if theres any advice I can give you from one person who stresses about wrinkles to the other is.. it ALL starts on the inside no MATTER WHAT!! No im not talking about whether your a good person or not...im talking about the best way for your body to fight wrinkles is by eating healthy foods. PLEASE read this even tho im talking about healthy stuff k?? Wrinkles are caused by floating oxygen particles that cause damage to our skin on purpose. These are called free radicles. If we can get rid of free radicles we wouldnt have a problem!! Now i know youve heard of anti-oxidents right?? WE LOVE THESE THINGS!!!! they wait for it........DESTROY free radicals. So eat fruit..green tea, all berries are high in anti-oxidants, and vegies..and no matter what people say, you out of everyone will be doing the best for your skin. Another big bad thing that causes wrinkles is the sun....stay out of it at ALL costs....apply sunscreen everyday and make sure you wash it off at the end of the day because that too can dry ur skin out. Eating things with anti-oxidants is actually more efficient than a million moisturisers put together. I really hope it helps! Oh and the girls are right about fish........its amazing. Salmon tuna ect. anything with omega will help your body develop more sebum in the skin thus lubricating it so it doesnt become dry.
Zorba Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Malibu Barbie has the best answer so far. The vast majority of skin aging is due to sun damage. People with darker skin have less wrinkles and appear younger because of the built in sunblock and protection their dark skins give them. The old line "Black don't crack" is where that comes from. Lucky buggers. The other side of that though is that very dark skinned people in more northern areas can have problems getting enough vit D. Yes free radicals have a role to play, but taking large doses doesn't come close to including them in your diet as Malibu Barbie points out. Too many are chugging pills back and not including them as part of your diet. In fact supplements can actually cause disease. Beta carotene is a classic one. It has been found that diets high in beta carotene protected smokers against lung damage and they had rates of lung cancer that were much lower than expected. Good so far. A swedish backed study then followed a large group of people who took beta carotene as a supplement. They had to stop the study early because the rate of lung cancer went up drastically in the study group. Not so good. In fact if you're a smoker it makes good sense to avoid beta carotens supplements entirely. Get it in the diet yes and maybe give up the cigs is a good plan too. It can be genetics too. I'm nearly 40 and have no wrinkles or lines at all. As a guy it looks weird. My dad was the same. A couple of lines on his forehead and no crows feet at 80. I really need to look more distinguished.
ghost69 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 i have smile lines by my eyes. i smile a lot cause my life seems funny to me. ima look good when i get older i must say. but it happens to everyone. don't be so glum. buddy of mine had grey hair in high school. another friend of mine is pretty much bald so he shaves it all off. everyone is different. try tanning, some lines will seem to disappear.
