Hello ladies,

Im 39 weeks..omg its been such a long ride. So my friend just game these primrose gel capsule, they are 100% natural. They are suppost to soften up my cervix and pretty much make it a little smoother. Has anyone heard of these pills?..

No, I have not heard of it. But it doesn't matter if it's 100% natural (so is ginseng and it's not good for you during pregnancy), you should still ask your doctor.

They said sperm is good for softening up your cervix, so go grab your man.

I would not recommend putting anything in your cervix without talking to your OB first. Normal gestation is 38-42 weeks so you are not overdue by any means.

When was your last visit and what did the OB say?

I don't recommend it. Trust your body to know the best time for the baby to come. I never forgot what my ObGyn told me,

"Every intervention increases the likelihood of another intervention becoming necessary."

If you force your water to break, your contractions may not advance. ONce your water breaks, the baby MUST be delivered within 24-30 hours

If you take drugs to advance your contractions, the baby may not be ready to travel into the birth canal

If the baby isn't ready, and is forced, you could have an inverted or breach position

This can lead to Forceps, episiotomy and in severe cases, Cesearian

Is it really worth a few more days?

I understand, I really do. My son was 10 days overdue, and I remember literally crying in my Dr's office to PLEASE induce me. He refused, saying- lets just give it a few more days. He was right. My baby came when he was ready and the delivery was relatively easy ( I only pushed for 20 minutes). 9-1/2 pounds - NO stitches (I don't know if that has anything to do with it but,...)

Alternatively, my SIL insisted on being induced on her due date and was in the hospital for 3 days while they kept increasing the pressure. First drugs to soften the cervix. Then drug to encourage contractions- 24 hours of that before they broke her water. Then more drugs to encourage dialation. Eventurally, she got to push actively for almost 6 HOURS and almost had to have a cesearan. And her baby was only 6 pounds 2 ounces.....She had internal and external stitches...

Trust your baby to know when it's time. I know it's tough, but in the end a smooth, less traumatic birth is worth a few days wait. You have the rest of your life to get to know your baby....

Hang in there! Good luck!

Yes i used evening primrose from 37 weeks as i knew i was being induced early at 38 weeks so i wanted to ripen up my cervix so that i would have more chance of the induction working and not having to have a c-section. When i went in to be induced i was 1cm dilated already and had a baby 4 hours later so i think the capsules worked. I took 5 a day orally and i put one near my cervix at night. I'm fairly sure it worked and by 39 weeks your baby is fully baked so i wouldn't worry too much.

Yes, but as another poster stated earlier.. If the body/baby isn't ready there could be far more complications if rushed into labor, Given more than likely if the body isn't ready anyway it's not going to do anything at all.

Just because she is 39 weeks does not mean the baby is "Ready" or "fully baked". Hence the reason alot of women go over their due date. They will come when they're ready!

"Naturally" sex (actually the semen) is one of the best ways to bring on labor

Semen contains prostaglandins which is the same thing that is in Cervidil (the vaginal suppository that doctors use to soften and ripen the cervix when inducing labor).

So go to town, with your doctor's OK of course.

I believe this. I tried everything I could to get my baby OUT once I reached 10 days past the due date and no signs of progress. I started taking black cohosh (or was it blue? I forget just now...) as well as all kinds of other things that I thought might help. Shortly after I started taking the cohosh, things started happening. However, I was in labor for 3 days, missed 2 nights of sleep, and had a horrible, horrible birthing experience. Of course, I have no way of knowing if that had anything to do with my natural interventions. but I wouldn't risk it.

My midwife told me the best way to get the baby to come was to have patience. If you have enough patience, you'll get your baby. I like that.
