jmantra Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Without having to resort to getting a second job. I am trying to move out of my parents' house, and because I am just getting started in my career I don't make that much when you factor in student loans. So does anyone have any ideas as for as self-employment. I was doing courier work for a while, but the company I was working with was really shady and would give me some crappy assignments a lot of the time. I'd really like to work as a courier again but maybe with a different company that does more long distance trips. The only thing I am concerned about is the gas and the wear and tear on my car though. Does anyone else have any other suggestions as far as part time self employment and independent contractor type work?
ryan1987 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 if your any good at art, a quick way i find to make money is to buy some supplies create a nice modern painting and sell it online or to friends. takes time but its enjoyable and practical.
Caesium Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Also, If you have a digital camera. There are numerous ways to make money using that. And you don't have to be amazing at photography. Last year when i was really strapped for cash, I'd ring ads in the local paper, Saying i'd sell their item for them, the item doesnt leave your place until you receive the cash. Ill just come over and take a picture (obviously there was more sales pitch to it than that) and all i did was sell it on ebay at the persons asking price and took a small percentage. And if the item sold for more, Id often keep the extra. May sound silly, But it's a good way

That could work but just one problem I have absolutely ZERO artistic ability.

And what about actually selling stuff for yourself on ebay? has anyone ever tried that?
Caesium Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 My dad makes quite abit of money selling his own things on ebay. To get clients i would ring adverts in newspapers which were selling items. Ask if it was still avaliable before giving the speech. I would usually only ring if the item was no more than bus ride away (because i can't drive) It's good because nor you or the client has anything to lose And everything to gain.
