Breaking Condoms?

Hey, im new to this forum... Me and my gf have been together for about 6months, she is on the pill, but i most of time use a condom, just save cleaning up mess, we still have sex without it though too.

We were having sex the other day and the condom broke, but i didnt know until i pulled it out and notice.. it was not biggie, just cleaned it up.

So first question, do many people have this problem of them breaking, and second, do people still use condom if thier partner is on the pill.

Condoms break, they aren't guaranteed. Lucky for you she is on the pill.

 

I know couples who use condoms when the woman is on the pill. I guess it's a personal choice. No biggie.

If she is on BC pills, condoms are sort of overkill for birth control purposes. Condoms sometimes break if not properly used, sometimes they just break. That's the main reason they are only 84-98% effective. BC pills, if taken religiously are over 99.9% effective so pregnancy is extremely remote.

 

I'm sure you don't need to hear the STD speech for the bazillionth time ... if you are doing it for "safe sex" better you should get tested and use monogamy to keep you safe. Why do you even use them? They detract from both the guy's and girl's sense of intimacy.

I use a condom unless my girl and I have talked about what would happen if she got pregnant. Basically it depends on how much trust I have for the girl I am with.

 

I would also use it if both partners hadn't been tested for stds.

 

It is pretty much the only protection the guy can reliably use. So yeah, I would usually use it as a backup to the pill. Those suckers do either break or come off often enough. Unreliable for me when used alone.

2) YES, if not THEY SHOULD!!!! sometimes people forget to take their pill for a day or two.....then what happens!!!!! the chances are a little higher of getting pregnant..... and people should always use condoms because that brings down the chance of catching STD or AIDS! so just be safe! never hurt to just use one any way!

i personally think everyone should be tested at low cost or cost free!!!! the real sad part is that people are walking around carring an STD or AIDS and they dont even know it! they're infecting others or worse walking around sick and dying! it a real problem and something should be down!

I've never had a condom break, and I use them every time. And I mean every single time! I'm on the pill as well. It is NOT 100% effective! What happens if she doesn't digest it properly, throws it up, takes an antacid, etc.? People can get pregnant on the pill even if they never miss one. That's why I always opt for back-up, just in case.

Well, the best thing then is abstinance ... that IS one hundred percent effective as long as you keep his sperm away from your genitals. What is an acceptable risk? pill? nahhh only 99.9% pill+condom? nahhh ... that's only 99.98% pill+condom+spermicide? nahhh ... just 99.995% Maybe add a diaphragm and an IUD ... 99.9999% do it on the phone instead? 100% Whatever you do, if you have sex, there is always a risk. Sheesh.

Good idea if you both do it. If you can trust her to be monogamous, then that settles the STD concerns.

condoms can break, but they break more when not worn properly. are you using lubricated condoms? are you yourself lubricated enough? sometimes friction plays a part.

Though even with the lube.... it doesnt seem very lube like... like its thick and not sticky... but tacky... like, I expected it to be more thin and slickery... maybe?

I've only had a condom break once, back when I wasn't on the pill. It scared my bf and I both to death! I've been taking the pill for about 4 months or so now, and about half the time we use condoms, when we're on the bed or something, so not make a mess. We don't use condoms when we're in the shower or if it's spontaneous.. Like others said, pretty much no biggie, if you're on the pill, but I like to use it anyway just to be super safe.

Are you exposing the condoms to high heat, like in a wallet or glove compartment? Are they expired? I've never had a condom break on me and I hear it a lot from guy friends and people on here.

 

My GF takes the pill same time everyday and is quite responsible so we never use condoms, only time we do is when I cum inside her. We've both been tested quite recently for STD's and AIDS and came back clean. And we're both faithful partners so no worry pretty much. But I always pull out just incase.

iFlirt, I use the same brand you do and haven't had one break. I use KY lube with them. Make sure it's water-based lube.

 

Zack, The 99.7% effectiveness is under ideal conditions... in other words most likely impossible conditions. Or else there wouldn't be so many pregnancies on the pill. Not to be graphic but if your girl is sick and has diarhhea for a couple days, then you have unprotected sex, well you could be pretty much screwed!

I just do not trust them 100% You can use a spermicide with a condom if you aren't on the pill.. but then if they break, how affective are they at preventings STDs?

Not meaning to scare anyone here, but having a STD test is a good way to protect your partner's health to some degree.

And just cuz you are using a condom, there are some diseases that can be spread outside the condom area, unfortunately, like Herpes or HPV, which if that is the case, then the condom doesn't prevent that particular STD.

I wish someone would just come up wiht a cure for some of these STDs.. They are nasty business...

All I really know is squeeze out the air from the tip before rolling down... the end. What am I missing here?

geesh im glad i read this...i thought that condoms + BC would be fine...apparently not. im just naive about it...still a virgin HAHAHAH so good thing i keep updating my (lack of) sex & pregnancy knowledge! i need to get on BC soon i think...but ive just heard about SOOOO many side effects >_

i just had it break on me one time when i was in a hurry to put it on and didnt do it well. otherwise , perfect record and thankfully , none of them girls pregnant

i was on the pill, we still used condoms, nine months later i had my son. still to this day dont know how it happened as we used both things together, but it did, be careful unless you want a child in the picture...
