RayKay Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Well, anybody who has a cat they leave outdoors all night has to know that the cat doesn't hold it in until coming home to the litter box....cats poop and pee outdoors as well if they are left outdoors all night. My last dog can attest to that because he always ended up eating cat poo (he wouldn't go near dog poo)!! As for eating out of the garbage....I have a lid on my kitchen garbage pail.....that is why going to my parents' place is such a treat for my dog....there is no lid on their garbage pail! I am not a cat lover...don't like their aloofness and unpredictability. I do like kittens...they are cute and their inquisitiveness can be quite amusing. That depends on the cats. My cat, and my sisters cat, will cry to come inside to use the litter box. They just won't do it outside! They don't like to spend the night outdoors though either...and the one time my cat was accidentally left oustide all night she made sure to come in before it got dark from there on in! Not all cats are aloof/unpredictable....my cat follows me around, and wants to be picked up and held - she still thinks she can fit as neatly on my shoulder as she did when she was a kitten. She has lost weight recently due to illness, but this was difficult when she was 20 lbs! My sisters cat gets mad when my sister stays out at night; and will wait for her loyally at the door until she gets home at the door. When my mum was home from work after her mastectomy, my cat would curl up in bed with her and keep her company all day - sometimes trying to lay on her which was less desired at the time! When my mum is away she sleeps in my mum's spot, and she clearly misses her. I am less fond of the cat from our neighbour however whom wanders into our yard to kill birds and this morning I found a dead squirrel I gave him a burial under the leaves - I can't wait until we build our fence. My cat brought home a live frog in its mouth once (which hopped out and terrified my mum!) but she was more interested in sun bathing than killing things. I love dogs too, but with my schedule they are much harder to have as they can't fend for themselves as well and while I would love a dog that would go running/biking with me (so would want an active, larger dog...) I am less fond of the idea of NOT having the freedom to be able to use my treadmill when it is -35 C and blizzarding because I need to take the dog out too
Hope75 Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I have two cats and a dog... Guess I better call the paddy wagon... What a silly generalization.
Occam Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I read this thread and the first thing I thought of was this: image removed Anyway, my girlfriend loves cats, has only one, and is at times a neurotic mess. She doesn't really qualify as "emotionally disturbed" or "unstable" though, just a little bit nuts. I sometimes do have to bring up the Crazy Cat Lady from the Simpsons with her when she gets a little too nuts.
angelmaria Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 This thread is hilarious! I dont' think that you can make a determination of someones sanity on thier pets...some poeple are just crazy...whether they have a cat, a dog, a fish, or just talk to themselves. I have 2 cats myself...one of them acts like a dog...he's a big guy...and barks if you can believe it! Must have been a dog in another life! The little one...she's a bit of a spaz...but equally loveable! And they both come when called by their names...so anyone who says that cats are stupid creatures may not have had a good experience. I love dogs too and cant wait to have one once i have room enough. I am completely sane...guess since i am saying that about myself...poeple may wonder...is she REALLY sane? Hahhaha...i think i am...besides...a bit of crazy makes like fun and interesting! ;oP
ghost69 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 yeah, but she wears red on thursday after the 1st of the month. i mean who does that? that means she is nuts. pffft.
JadedStar Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 my mother is as mad as a hatter and owns multiple cats, so maybe you are onto something. LOL
