I'm 18, she's 16 and we're worried about parents

I turned 18 on August 15th and the girl I'm talking to just turned 16 on August 22nd, so it's basically a 2 year age gap. She's a junior in high school and I'm just starting my 1st year of college. I heard about this girl from my best friend, he's been dating his gf for about 1 year now and his gf and the girl I'm talking to are best friends as well.

 

So, she likes me and I have taken a liking to her as well. I've been coming home on the weekends to see her at the high school football games and then the 4 of us headed back to my best friend's gf's house and watched 2 movies last Friday night. We have been doing this double dating if you want to call it that because the girl I'm talking to is afraid to ask her parents.

 

She says she really likes me but feels they will try and stop it because I am in college. I totally understand what she means and I wanted some opinions or guidance for this situation. I am not a player, I've had 1 relationship that lasted almost 3 years so I stick to the girl I'm with no matter what. I don't party, smoke, drink or anything of that nature and neither does she. I don't know if I should try and get to know her parents more or what to do.

Honestly 16 dating an 18 isn't bad. I would just focus on the legal aspect of your relationship. What is the Age of Consent Laws for your area?

Well, I am a virgin and the only thing I've heard from her best friend is she's given oral to 1 guy. I live in North Carolina, so I have no clue as to what I fall under?

The age of consent in link removed in general is 16, though no school faculty member can have any sexual activity with any student more than 4 years their junior except when married to the person {§14‑27.7}. Any sexual intercourse with a 13-15 year old is prohibited unless the defendant is less than 6 years older than the victim except when married to the person {§14‑27.2, 14‑27.4 & 14‑27.7A}.

There is no defense against a charge of rape that the victim is the spouse of person committing the act {§14‑27.8}.

I would just go to her parents. They will like you much better if you are upfront with them. Tell them what you told us: Yes, you are a little older, but you don't drink, smoke, party hard, and you treat girls well. You just want permission to date their daughter.

 

If you are upfront and ask them early on, they will be much more likely to approve then if they find out about you some other way.
