how can i keep this convo alive for another few days?

alright well my apartments were having a bunch of parties and everything last night, and i went up to this girl said i knew her from wherever, anyways we only talked for like a minute and she said to get at her on myspace or whatever(cause thats where we knew each other from, sadly enough) so i say hey we met last night yada yada but then what do i say to keep her talkin a bit. what kinda question or somethin can i ask to keep her interested or start up a convo. is there any way i can even really keep this goin without lookin dumb? my only advice i was previously given was take her ice skating or out or whatever, but we are only sophomores in college so not that many people are really dating. there are so many parties that the parties take the place of dating and whatnot. but im not even tryin to date her, im a random guy who came up to her once i dont think shes in any rush to date, im just trying to start the process of getting to know her and see where it goes from there. any ideas????

Ask her out for a movie. This way the pressure to carry a conversation is decreased. Take her out for a drink afterwards using the movie as a topic of conversation.

ok well once again i am not trying to date her. ive been told it takes abut 20 minutes before a girl gets to know a little about you, then you ask for the number or whatever. how dating is generally done here is one group of girls goes to our apartment and we mingle with all of them or we go to a girls apartment. thats like the first date right there. everyone socially drinks and we party or we go into town to party. ive met her for 1 minutes, probaly more like 30 seconds so all she saw was how i look. i am very confident in my looks so i want to pursue but i need to work up to that first date or whatever. i need to start with a solid conversation which can then later lead to getting together. i have been asked to message so this is where i start a convo. if i dont do this im forced to do a face to face with a girl who doesnt know who i am or anything about me, while i also know nothign about her. its not gonna be a great convo so this is like a warm up. im just tryin to maybe make her laugh or get her intrigued or somethin so she might want to kick it thats all, thats what i need help with PLEASE

If you just want her as a friend, then just ask her some questions about herself and be funny I guess.
