In another thread, someone mentioned that VH1 show with that guy "Mystery." Why do women go for this guy? I'll admit, he seems pretty smooth, and he's an attractive person, but his get-up is so weird. I mean, a cowboy hat, painted fingernails? And it even looks likes he's got some eyeliner going. Don't get me wrong, i live in New York, I see strange people all over the place. But is this what women go for? Or is it that his looks and approach allow them to see past his nail polish? I just don't get it.

 

It's the same thing with that blond guy he hangs out with, one of his "students." That guy is so average and ordinary in the looks department. He's not that tall either. He puts streaks in his hair and has this strange look going. His rap does not seem that impressive. On one show, his whole rap to these two girls was about how he had spent the week shopping in Los Angeles, and that he was "high maintenance." They seemed interested, I don't know. Is it his approach, manner of dress, both, what is it?

 

I just can't get past how weird Mystery looks. He looks like Criss Angel, that magician on A&E. How much does this look factor into his appeal?

i think the guy is a joke. yeah, he has some smooth lines and some good tips, i will give him that. he is a freak. that is probably why women would want to talk to the guy. the funny thing is, is he is married. pffft. what kind of show teaches guys how to be a player or a pua and your sensei is married. lol. some pua.

Too be honest, I read about him and thought he was sleazy. Even saw his photo and thought he was sleazy. Looked him up online, tried to understand his art, still thought he was sleazy.

 

Then I watched him for 30 seconds on tv...thought he was pretty hot. There was a certain unawareness he had about himself. Confidence I guess. He had authority. It was attractive. Of course, if I ever met him...I'd run away.

 

Now on the otherhand...I saw Superbad the other day. Michael Cera was so unexplainably hot in all his awkward glory.

The secret to Mystery is simply that he has an extremely accute understanding of women and attraction. He grasps how the Dating Game works so well that he can control exactly what signals he sends out and knows exactly how to read which signals she sends back. When you have that kind of understanding... you're are going to have all the success that you want.

 

As far as his get-up... it's called Peacocking. It's standing out, showing the confidence to draw attention. It's not some mystical method of making girls like him, it's just to get people to notice him when at bars and clubs, as well as a conversation piece.

yeah, his giddy-up pretty much just gives women something to approach him and talk about. i wear some things like that myself. not some stupid medallions though.

For instance about understanding signals and how women tend to respond...

 

What normall happens to a hot girl at a bar? Some guy sits down next to her and offers her a drink for one. Another guy walking up to her and talking to her. These guys are doing the same thing the last dummies did, 5 minutes prior. The girl knows they are hitting on her and thus her defensive barriers are already strengthening. In addition she already knows they are interested yet she has no idea who they are or what their value is.

 

Something Mystery advises to guys is to walk past a group of girls, and initiate an opener partly over your shoulder, where your body language is telling these girls that he is not staying, he's leaving. This way the defensive barriers of "How do I get out of this conversation" are not raised as high.

You could even reinforce this message by stating, "Excuse me, my friends are waiting for me, but I needed to get a ladies opinion on something real fast..." You used the words "friends are waiting for me" and "real fast". Even your opener is keeping the message coming that you aren't sticking around. You're not facign so strong of barriers which gives you an opportunity to actually open a conversation without having her already decided that you're invading their space, that they should try to get out of the conversation, that you're hitting on them, etc.

 

Those little things can help you send the right signals to open up a chance to show them "you" before they shoot you down. Because think about it... if you walk up to a girl and say, "Hi, my name is Mike, what's your name?", she's already assuming you're hitting on her just like the last couple of guys who made fools of themselves. She might already be thinking of how to get out of the conversation without ever getting to know "you". She's not rejecting you, she's rejecting the feeling of the situation, a feeling other doofus's created for her by being morons.

There are always going to be women who fall for some moron's lines. Its inevitable. Look at how many retarded guys have girlfriends....its not really that incredible.

 

How many takes do they do before a girl actually accepts these people? Right, we don't know.

 

This guy might have some lines, or might be smooth, but if I had a tv show, money and things at my dispense, I can GUARANTEE I would get play just as much as those people. Its just TV for lonely guys who need encouragement.

I get this whole concept of "peacocking," or making yourself stand out, but I don't understand how looking that weird is helpful. look at his other "student," I forget his name. The guy just looks well-dressed and normal. He has no makeup or nail-polish on.

 

I guess in the end if you look a little different it helps, at least with standing apart from every other guy with a stupid pick-up line.

It's best to actually know what you're talking about before you make false assumptions and run with it. Mystery doesn't use "lines", and nor does he use fame and money. It really is as simple as him being a master of social skills.

I don't understand his particular style of dress either... That doesn't mean there isn't something to it, but just that I don't get it.

I am not denying that he is probably very good at picking up women.

 

But as for not using the film crew to attract women I am not so sure. Its on TV, so take it with a grain of salt. I have heard of way too many examples of outside manipulation, retakes, selective cutting, even in what is supposed to be "reality TV".

 

Theres way too many money involved in modern TV-production to let things to chance.

The one who stands out from the crowd, different hair, bright colours etc.... you get the idea. That is pecocking

 

We are all, animals after all..... Pretty and unusal things catch our eye !
