I just finished reading a book I've heard mentioned on here. Its called Obsessive Love by Susan Forward. I really learned a lot from it. I didn't fall under the textbook definition of being obsessive but it has some really helpful methods for breaking that cycle of thinking about an ex or dwelling on a failed relationship. It talks about the triggers that make you start thinking about someone and how to divert your thoughts away from the subject. Its been in print for a while so your local public library probably has it. Maybe it might help, its worth reading, even if you aren't obsessive. It also has a section devoted to helping someone who is the object (dumper) of someone who is obsessing and talks about how to avoid sending mixed messages.
