  1. I can relate to your work experiences on so many levels, Jibralta.

Don't get me wrong. I've had some amazing managers and I sing their praises. But the bad were oh so bad. What I noticed though is that my best managers loved their jobs, where the worst managers absolutely detested their positions.

Are you applying for other jobs at the moment? Will be interesting when you hear from that Bill you worked for previously and whether or not their job offer is something that appeals to you.

I think it's safe to say that I was pretty naïve when I first entered the workforce after my schooling. At first I for whatever reason assumed that my employer would always have my back, but man, did they prove me otherwise. It's like being in a one-sided relationship. All give, with nowhere near the same level of reciprocity. The things I've seen, heard....ugh. But being that they're the employer, they basically always have the upper-hand. We're kind of at their mercy; unless of course we're independently wealthy and have no worries about losing our jobs and income. I'm definitely looking out for myself more nowadays.

I know your end goal is to one day work for yourself, though, so good on you!

  2. Oh it's brilliant isn't it .. I reckon I have seen them all and then some because it is on every day and I can watch and re watch .

My daughter showed me the vid on you tube of their last table reading for the last episode ....tissues at the ready or what *sob

Yes, pippy! It's clear why the show lasted as long as it did - the writers and actors are superb! I have laughed out loud so many times.

Buuuuuut, I don't have access to all of the seasons, so I know I'm going to be experiencing TBBT withdrawals. Once season 8 is done, that's it. I feel swindled!

Gosh I love their characters, though - what a group. I wish I had a Sheldon and Leonard that lived across the hall from me. Lol.

  3. I gave a note to a hot girl at the gym this morning with the name of the cafeteria outside of the gym and a time. I figured there was a 2% chance to come. Well, I have been waiting for 25 minutes so far so we can safely say i am on the 98 % side. Hahahaha. I do enjoy my cappuccino though :)

Good on you for putting yourself out there & making the effort. Not everyone has the cahoonas to do something like this.

    No risk, no reward...

  4. Thanks, Milly :)

I like your new avatar, by the way. I actually have a picture of it on my wall at work. My mom sent it to me because I was Darth Vader for Halloween when I was six.

That was right after Return of the Jedi came out, and I spent the whole summer emulating Darth Vader's breathing.

    Ah, memories.

    Thanks, Jibralta!

I can relate to your costume choice. Was never one to gravitate towards princess costumes or more girly things when I was younger. I despised dresses and would inherit a lot of my older brothers clothes/costumes - including a spider man costume at Halloween, which I was completely okay with. Lol

  5. I saw the movie "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood" and it really moved me. All one needs to do to realize their potential to love and care for another human being is to think of Mr. Rogers. So inspiring.

I look forward to owning the movie.

Now I want to watch this movie!

  6. Great pic of you, Jibralta.

It's funny, as I read through some of the journals & posts on ENA, I tend to envision which each person looks like - like a character in a novel. So it's always interesting when we get a glimpse of the faces behind the journals/threads.

  7. I've noticed that because some people acknowledge and admit to acting like a jerk, they think this gives them a green light to continue acting like a jerk.

They admit to feeling bad about it, yet they continue doing it?

Just don't do it in the first place. Sheeesh.

  8. I'm blown away by how much Charlize Theron resembles Megyn Kelly in this movie trailer for Bomshell. Seems like her body language and even mannerisms are on point, too. I saw the movie poster and trailer and had no idea it was Charlize. Mind is blown...

Well done to the makeup artist for the makeup/prosthetics...

I'm no movie buff, as I rarely, if ever, watch movies, but for some reason I was fascinated when I saw this trailer. Does this mean I have to get out more? lol *shrugs*

  9. I started taking a painting class a couple weeks ago. Turns out I can paint!

The image in the top right corner is actually the first one I painted in my very first class. I was just as surprised as everyone else.

I didn't have any of the correct colors (I used blue for some reason, and it worked!) and my brushes were busted up hand-me-downs, but I somehow got the painting to represent the apple pretty accurately.

The one on the lower left is the last one I painted (also in my first class). The paintings got progressively worse as the teacher gave me more and more advice, lol!

The teacher's favorite artists tend to paint with large chunks of color, so she instructs the class to paint in a similar way. But I don't know how paint works yet, so I take tentative strokes and sort of scratch things into the canvas, adjusting as I go.

During the second class, she was all over me to plop more paint on my canvas and I did try, but I didn't understand the results I was getting and I didn't like what I saw.

I find her over-involvement ironic, because it's a timed painting class, designed (according to her) so that we didn't get 'too precious' about our paintings. Paint for 10 minutes and move on to the next.

    But she kept hovering!

During the second class, I got really frustrated. Two of my four pear paintings looked like sht because I took her advice.

Yesterday, I asked her to kindly F off. I explained that her chunky paint technique wasn't working for me and that I had to approach my learning experience my own way. She was very amenable to that and I was able to save my pumpkin painting from certain doom.

Looks like you're a natural, Jibralta. I love seeing other people's artwork.

I've been wanting to get back into painting for years now, and seeing this inspires me.

Hoping you post more of your paintings/art. Would luv to see them!

  10. They pronounce the name wrong, weird given than Jennifer Aniston is Greek. But the description fits a good looking Greek guy, notably the whoa exclamation lol

I was actually going to post this clip on here! It’s one of my favorites from Friends. Rachel - “Phoebes, who’s George Snuffleupagus?” Phoebes “Big Bird’s friend”. Lol. Priceless.

And don’t get me started on the episode where Ross plays his “music”. Another fave...

I’ll have to upload that scene later since I’m on my phone now.

  11. People on the subway who put a bag on the seat next to them to deter people from sitting down, or the classic move, where someone sits in the aisle seat and they don’t shift their arse to the inside or adjoining seat in hopes of no one sitting next to them so they can enjoy both seats for themselves.

And it doesn’t matter how busy the subway is - blows my mind. Some people have a lot of gall.

Or, and this is a given, people who won’t get up and offer their seat to pregnant women, the elderly, disabled or parents with children & strollers...

  12. I'm annoyed a lot, apparently.

A Facebook friend who actually had the nerve to post that her birthday is coming up so could people please give her cash. For real???

    She isn’t serious, is she?

Is this the same person who was asking you for handouts?

  13. A person I know who keeps losing jobs because she has serious medical issues and physically cannot be there to do the work. i feel for her so much with her serious medical issues and this latest job -a few months old -is for someone whose wife has the same chronic condition so during the interview process he said he "got it". But I also feel for bosses who have bottom lines, other employees who will have to pick up the slack and realizing that the issues are far more serious and impacting the person's work. She just got demoted today after being hospitalized on and off the past few weeks and not getting much done otherwise. To me it's a business decision and she is "furious." Maybe I need to be more "pro employee" - and it's annoying to hear her complain about this latest demotion/issue when she knows she cannot be there and cannot get her work done.

I’m surprised that employers are allowed to terminate her to the extent that they have, considering her medical issues. I’m not sure what the employment laws are where you live, but I’m wondering if these employers should be accommodating her and her medical issues, rather than terminating her employment.

I can’t begin to imagine what she’s going through. I hope she has a strong support system in her friends & family.
