Meep meep indeed. Here's my favorite video of these magnificent birds. Plus other desert creatures, it's just an awesome video. Okay, the good stuff out of the way the media these days is seriously torquing my ire up and up. While I agree we need to know what is going in the world we do NOT need to know lurid details of people's last moments that will fill us full of nightmares. I find it disrespectful and done only for the shock value and that just seems like such a dirty trick. Dirty laundry indeed.

Step out the door this morning to feed the chickens, horse et. al. A roadrunner is standing by my front porch, we stare at each other, I then proceed to shriek, "OH WOW!" at the top of my lungs, because where once we saw these birds everywhere they are now somewhat of a rare sighting, at least where I live. Said roadrunner then turns tail and runs away like I am Wile E. Coyote as I am frantically tossing seed down trying to lure him back. So annoyed with myself right now. I love roadrunners. A friend has two that show up at her house all the time for handouts. I've just blown one of my dreams (I want roadrunners to hang out at my place, heck I already have quail and bobcat, so why not right?) all to shreds with my big mouth. And I know better.

The Dead Girl starring Brittany Murphy, Toni Collette, Giovannia Ribisi and a whole other host of excellent actors and actresses-those three were just my favorites in the film. This movie, man it got under my skin. It is a quiet little film that probably shows more truth about the ripple effects of a murder than any TV police procedural ever can. And Brittany Murphy, I teared up just watching her, because she was such a wonderful actress. She's so vulnerable and sweet and tough and defiant in that film, and you just cry watching her because she captured the story of women all over the world who end up in desperate lives after being irrevocably damaged by sexual abuse. This is not a happy film. I will probably never watch it again, can't actually, but like American History X it's one of those films that has imprinted itself on to my psyche. And weirdly enough in a good way, because it makes you want to change the world for the better.

Nevermind. Very raw in the language.

I am not really one for censorship in film and/or books beyond the obvious of say child pornography. Even those terrible "grey" books and the sparkly vampire books, while to me anyways were full of dangerous stereotypes that depict unreal and unhealthy relationships, still didn't really raise my ire. I mean, it's escapism, what are you gonna do. But I just saw a trailer for a movie that so deeply offends me I think I'd slap the screenwriter if they walked up to me: misogynistic, misandristic, racist beyond all belief, all white women hate sex, all white men are beer-guzzling gun-totin' rednecks, small towns are full of stupid people, no person of color ever follows the law. For the first time in my life, in my entire fricking life, I actually find myself so deeply offended by something I now understand that for all our government's blather about equality and equal rights, for all our politician's blather about it too, in the end it means nothing. We are all seen as clichés to be made fun of to suit some political puppet purposes. Rant over. Beyond annoyed, simply just appalled. I'll bet there isn't a sterotype in that piece of ship film that won't get made fun of.

Stir Crazy featuring Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. I'm doing a whole week of Gene Wilder movies in remembrance of a great comedic actor.

Gene Wilder just passed away. Not only am I incredibly annoyed with Death (really Grimmy, first you take Robin Williams and now Gene, you scythe bearing tart) I am also just really, really, REALLY sad. That's annoying. Will have to pull out my time worn copy of Young Frankenstein and laugh and cry tonight with the family.

Hospitals that shunt someone out the door the minute, no the nanosecond they look like they might be okay. Not even ARE okay, but MIGHT BE. Our entire medical establishment is in the toilet.

Ah, the other part of Monsoon season just showed up. Muggy with a high chance of mosquitoes. Time to break out the Deep Woods Off and douse myself with a bucket of lavender oil and pray they don't find me.

Finally, finally, FINALLY Monsoon season is here. With a vengeance. I can't even see to the horse corrals, the rain is coming down so hard. So glad I put the horses in the barn an hour ago. We've had a long, very dry, very hot summer and my roses are dying, maybe this will perk them up. If it doesn't wash us all of the face of the earth. Now, off to go unplug everything and stop on the computer for a bit, because the lightning is equally fierce. HOORAY, RAIN!!!!
