  1. This is great, but I hope you didn't select this guy based on his ability to provide this for your child, since parenting your son is your responsibility first and foremost. My SO has a 13 year old son who I spend a lot of time with, but I made it clear with her and him early that I had no intention of trying to be a substitute father since he has a father already. I certainly do try to be a good role model for him, I do provide guidance and even some times a bit of correction for him, I play sports with him, help him with his schoolwork, and on and on, but I ain't his dad and never will be. I hope eventually your son's real father will grow up and shoulder his mantle of responsibility, but in the meantime your boyfriend can't do it all for him. Don't you put so much pressure on him or you'll darn sure run him off.
  2. I think friendships just naturally tend to lessen in intensity as people age. People have families and careers and the ever-deepening concerns that attend them. The close bond with buddies that you had as a kid, or in college even, is gradually replaced by the other concerns of life. It's just natural. I know guys who are my age and never married, and even though I am now divorced and live alone, I am still a family kind of guy and prefer to spend time with my girlfriend over my friends. Now, don't misinterpret me, but it has been my impression that mature adults (over age 30) who have never married nor are in a serious long-term relationship tend to have maturity issues which can put me off. I have experienced this several times, most recently with my 48-year-old never-married cousin when he came to visit. He's a great guy, but I just don't share his interest in strip joints, smoking dope, etc. Just my $.02 worth.
  3. Not full of evil - there is much good. Some of it is right here on this website. Who cares? We do. I'm 10 years older than you and I'm not f***ing old as long as I see the world as fresh and new every day. You are in the beautiful full bloom of life. The world needs you!
  4. I was an only child (my mother ate the others). My ex-wife was an only child. We both have some big problems, and with that in mind, when we decided to have kids (there's some Darwin for you) we agreed that having at least two was absolutely essential, for the kids' sake. Two was all I wanted, but she wanted three or four or five... Simple enough, she stopped taking the pill without telling me and *pop* there were three. Want to know anything about the vasectomy procedure? Moral of the story: I think only-children are much more likely to be weird than kids with siblings. Selfish, introverted, not able to deal with reality very well, etc etc. I wish you the best of luck. Oh, I forgot to tell you. With two kids and two parents you can do man-on-man. With the third kid you have to go to zone. It'll keep you light on your feet. Now-a-days, when it's just me and those three, I have to resort to Bobby Knight tactics sometimes.
  5. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha this is better than Desperate Housewives! Andy, dude - introduce me to your cousin!
  6. yeah, listen - 4 lives will get ruined with that stuff. You need new friends.
  7. honey, your man is looking for some side action. You could try to ask yourself why - you might even try some introspection, i.e. "could it be me?" but it probably isn't. Fact of the matter is, if you can find a guy who DOESN'T eventually look for some side action you've found yourself a real treasure and you better figure out what you can do to yourself to secure such a rare find. Not many people have the character and depth to breathe such rarified air. Do you?
  8. Hey clueless: keep fit, make some good money and hang on to it for a few years... my teenage (13) daughter says she intends to marry a chinese guy. She hasn't picked one yet though so stay sharp. She's tall, blonde, blue eyes, IQ off the chart. See, there's hope. Be nice to her, don't make me feed you to my chows. All seriousness aside... I don't see much basis for your concern and I live in Redneck-slovakia. My gf's son is 17, caucasian as caucasian can be, tall, athletic, brilliant, and is particularly intrigued by asian girls. The opportunity to date an asian woman has never presented itself to me, but to me she would be just a woman anyway, not an asian woman. Just be yourself dude, don't be your asian self.
