So texting 24 hours after to say I had a wonderful time and then calling 24 hours after that to arrange a second date (if the texts suggest it's ok!) won't come accross as desperate or make me look like I'm contacting her too often?

After a first date how long is it best to leave it before texting her to arrange a second date? Is it ok to text or is ringing better?

I've been asked by a girl to go out for a drink (first date). We've arranged to go in a few days. I was thinking of suggesting we go for a meal as well - good or bad idea? I only ask as she suggested the drink so maybe that's what she would prefer?
