  1. Mind Power by John Kehoe. Read it years ago rereading it. It's about the universal laws. Controlling your thoughts to create the life you want.
  2. I'm reading Mind Power by John Kehoe. About controlling our thoughts, and universal laws.
  3. OMG I am so excited. I got a letter asking me to send some samples along with lyric sheets of my music! I hope this actually leads to something good for me, I have never gotten anything like this before and I have no idea how they got my name. I have copy written stuff but that was a while ago, so I think maybe that audition I went to is related to this. Anyone have experience like this? What generally happens? It says a lot in the letter but I just want to hear from another source.
  4. Thanks, today is the day I find out for sure. They do call backs between 10 and noon I was told.
  5. With a self composed song! It's for Christian singers/songwriters, actors, dancers, models, etc. I was told my songs have a Christian flair to them and I've recently been turned on to Christian music and songwriting, so off I go! I'm as ready as a week would allow me to get, but I have practiced nightly and am now singing in my sleep so I think I've done well as far as practice goes. Couldn't learn the guitar fast enough though, focused instead on singing acapella. I so hope I advance, I feel like it will be a miracle if I do and I'm praying for that miracle. Wish me luck!
  6. It is just such a small world. I attended a songwriting workshop and ran into my college professor/adviser! He was more embarressed than I was but we both got over it. I know I learned a lot in the workshop and I'm sure he did too.
  7. Well I went and shared my song. I now have some to collaborate with musically, I'm just so excited to see it come together! I have always wanted to have someone to collaborate with. I've also been told my sound leans towards Christian Music, not all my songs but many of them do. So I've been invited to another group meeting this weekend! I'll see how that goes. This is just rocking my world. If I didn't have this going for me I would be really down right now. I owe the government a little over 6K and I have no clue how I'm going to repay that. I need prayers and a lot of them. Guess I have another song idea.
  8. I joined it this week officially and already I'm getting so much information, workshops, places to go, etc. It's awesome! It's totally fun for me, I can't make it all of it but I go when I can. I wasn't able to share my song with the group on the first meeting I attended because I didn't have time to go home and pick it up, so I will on Tuesday. They even had a rush of new members! Unreal! I'm more excited because I've had a few fortune teller types tell me I'll meet my soul mate through this group! So of course I want to give the best impression I can and I'm really hoping to meet people to collaborate with, perform ultimately once I feel comfortable with my music, and just finally express my ideas! I have so many some have been stolen and are in the world because I didn't know the art of copy writing, I was doing it wrong and thanks to this group I have learned how to do it properly. As for sharing, I will eventually. There's some hoops I need to jump through first, due to the loss of some songs that meant a lot to me I hesitate to share publicly.
  9. I have to copywrite them, but I may once I have it in a postable form.
  10. So now I'm going to join a songwriters group to hone my craft so to speak. It should be fun, and maybe next time I enter a contest I can win! I spent some time last night writing out two songs, I have to decide which one to bring a dance song or love song. I'm leaning toward the love song. The group is meeting next week. I'm so excited.
  11. I found a local organization that I'm checking into. I'm super excited about it.
  12. Does anyone have a suggestion about that? I'm good at writing lyrics, however the music part is a bit more difficult for me. I got inspired last night and wrote out a couple of song lyrics I like to turn into songs. I need some help (from a trusted source).
  13. You are not too old, the average age at the U of MN is 25 so you're right in there. Try to take the exams and talk with your adviser. Mine eased my mind about being an older student I was 33 when I returned. I'll be 37 when I graduate and it's been a challenge for me but I'm hoping it totally worth it in the end. As Dear Abby said you're going to be that age regardless wouldn't you like to have a degree in hand? A number is just a number, there's plenty of older students in the mix. You're still a youngin'.
  14. Hi Mo, I'm sure you've moved on, but I want you to know I miss you and I was really hurt by what you said. Me
  15. I'm white but I do know it can be hard. My son is bi-racial and well even being seen with him was hard sometimes. Mostly because no one ever thought he was my son, or I was his mother. Age maybe and color perhaps. It puts you on defensive. I will say studying business is a good idea, there are opportunities for non-white people in business. Racism exists, it's ingrained, I still say I'm racist in some ways and I'm the mother of a brown child myself. The family loves you and wants what is best. If you can find a college that is more diverse go for that college. It might benefit you. No matter what color you are there are things we all face. Really you just have to put blinders on to racism, stop seeing it so clearly. See people as people, even parents make mistakes, but are often wiser than you think at the same time. Don't give up on life pursuits just because of your color. *no way did I read the entire scope of posts. Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
  16. I enjoyed reading this. I rarely read the poetry but this one caught my eye.
  17. Trust your intuition here. You're having well founded fear and that should be adhered to. Don't get married, have a long engagement, if he leaves you because of it it wasn't meant to be.
  18. I think the same thing and I've brought two children into this world and now that I had a "normal" child I actually would want more (if I could afford it). They bring joy, excitment, add vitality and life. When you have a good kid it's fun.
  19. How very sad. This is the age they get into wanting to marry daddy, so I'm sure it's especially hard on her. It seems he does care a little, but has made his decision and has to let go (since she isn't biologically his daughter). Tell her that he loves her very much but he won't be able to see her anymore. It might ease her pain.
  20. It's the Ross and Rachel "We were on a break!" thing. Well you were broken up, you said it yourself "we got back together." Now yes I feel this way about my ex husband. It grossed me out to know he was with another woman. But we are divorced, and yes I'm trying to get back together so I did tell him how I felt grossed out by it even though it was technically not cheating. You have to work through your feelings, share them with her (calmly), and if you truly want to work this out you'll have to release this. Technically it wasn't cheating, but did she plan this? Talk to her and find out, then you can base your decision on reconsiling or not on her answer. Maybe it just happened to be timed well. We all are attracted to people throughout relationships, whose to say she became attracted before breaking up? It is kind of complicated but you have to talk to her find out the real timing and make your feelings known to her. It's really up to you if you want to work through it or not. It's possible.
  21. Because you love him and many of us have a belief that love can overcome anything.
  22. I'd postpone it until after you deliver. You're not supposed to lie on your back during pregnancy for one, and I don't recommend anthesia during pregnancy no matter how safe they say it is.
  23. You could have your marriage annulled.
  24. Ick, buy him one just like hers. Hopefully that would put a stop to it.
