  1. Do you mean like he wore his boxer shorts outside, or it's cold out and he's wearing cargo shorts or whatever?
  2. yeah, it's not cool that she take things out on you or your son. I know it must be very difficult to be a special ed teacher. She should find a new way to vent. I'm really happy to hear that your son is doing well now in terms of school, getting his future set up, etc...
  3. Another point: experimenting on children is NOT cool and is probably illegal. It's really disgusting to have parents do x, y, z to their kids just because they can, outside of a very stringently controlled clinical trial.
  4. ugh, i'm sorry to hear this. i don't have much to add. i hope he enjoys his college classes and that he finds something that he is passionate about and can make a living wage off of.
  5. That's good. If he knows what is freaking him out, at least he can figure out how to deal with it. (unfortunately, he can't bring additional lamps into the room or have the lecture moved.)
  6. yeah, it is a difficult and perplexing field. I know of a very large study that's been published trying to make correlations between genes and autism. It's definitely not a simple and answer and is going to be a huge combination of genes and environmental factors.
  7. Does the college your son will be attending have an office of disabilities (or something of the sorts) that can help advocate for him to have extra time on tests, etc...?
  8. did the guy tell you what about it he didn't like specifically and would you be able/willing to fix it? has he seen your other work? obviously, you'll get a different result if you ask Picasso vs. Renoir to make a portrait....
  9. welcome back! and am so glad to hear that you found someone you really connect with and love. that is great. i am glad you got some good impartial advice here and that you are starting in on your new life together. congrats and all the best!
  10. Moderator note - i have removed the link of the pic. you don't have permission to post it, and enough members here are disturbed with posting someone's photo here. the photo is of a young lady who looks quite young, i'd guess 13/14, even if she says 18. she has dark hair and blue eyes and is in a garden.
  11. i totally agree with you. but it's interesting how in other cultures, like in spain, mexico, and italy, it is totally normal for someone to live with their parents until they get married, which may not be until they are well into their 30s. for a lot of the people i talked to, it seemed to be a more logistical thing, and something that is commonly done, rather than an unnatural attachment to one's parents. still, there is no amount of money you could pay me to move back in with my mom. ugh.
  12. let's keep this on topic. nice poem sarey
  13. ok, i know this is an insanely old thread, but what happened in the end? did they work things out?
